has anyone heard anything about Penn, like number of spots available for instance? I really hope Penn does not drastically go down as well, although I wouldnt be surprised since they may very likely continue the trend of last year which saw them go down to around 17 percent.

if the acceptance rate was 17% last year, what was it the year before??

I'm pretty sure they were up somewhere in the lower twenties.

I think you have a good shot. Wharton is going to be most concerned about your math grades so if you pulled an 'A' in Calc or Business Calc, however that works, I'm sure you will have proven yourself. One thing to think about; you may want to go to Wharton because it's more highly regarded than Stern, but if you're doing really well at Stern and you want to get a good job in NYC, then you're already in the right place. Proximity is everything. Anyway, best of luck, I would say that for Wharton you have like maybe a 70 percent shot, just depends on who else from Stern is applying (I only met one guy last year who transferred in) and I have never met anyone else who transferred into Wharton, so all I can say is you have a stronger record than many of the College transfers and Wharton is generally a little bit harder to get into in terms of hard numbers (don't let it get to your head, haha). Hope you get in!!

It was about 18 percent last year - 1600 applied and 175 transfers attended, so probably 50 or 60 turned down places. But they will get more selective this year because we had a huge problem with housing and matric. Good luck!

Penn received 20 percent more transfer applications this year than last, this is not surprising considering the recent trends at other Ivies so far.

I just got one of those green cards for missing forms today.... I guess I won't be getting a decision on Monday. When did everyone else get a green card?

hmmm green card* how Ironic!

I’m anxious for you guys! I didn’t apply to penn this year. I’m headed to Berkeley next year as a freshman, but I’m thinking of transferring because of complications I might have with the Haas reqs. How are my chances looking for next year?

This is kind of a tricky situation. I went to a CC for my senior year in high school and am a spring admit for Berkeley. So the information (both academic and ECs) is divided like this

Senior year – December 06 : De Anza
January 07 – Due date of Penn App: Berkeley

My App will have the following College Stats:

De Anza College (GPA: 4.0):
• Introduction to Business
• Business Information Systems
• Principles of Macroeconomics
• Principles of Microeconomics
• Elementary Statistics and Probability
• Philosophy: Introduction to Morals and Politics
• American Government and Politics
• English 1A
• English 1B
• English 1C
• Cultural Anthropology
• Physical Anthropology

Berkeley [GPA: ? (Hopefully 3.0-4.0)]:
• Math 16A
• Chinese
• International Relations
• Legal Studies

High School Record:
GPA: 4.6W; 3.89UW
SATs: 1950
Top 4% of Class

College ECs:
Rotaract Project Chairman
Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society

I don’t know what I’ll be a part of at Berkeley, but I’m hoping I’ll find a way into Alpha Kappa Psi as a freshman

Job: Work as an associate for a company where I teach clients how to invest in variable products and mutual funds.

Professional Licenses:
Series 6
Series 63
California Accidental, Life, Health Insurance

I’m a little worried because Wharton requires 2 semesters of Calculus and I’ll only have completed 1. Also my SATs are low. Does anyone have any advice as to what I can do to increase my chances? I don’t know how my reqs or essays will go. Also, does anyone know if I would have to apply as a junior because of all my courses?

What exactly are the transfer essay prompts?
What are my chances now do you think?
Will the 20% increase of penn applicants this year affect my chances?

Any advice or input at all would really help. Thanks a bunch.

hey everyone,

carrot I just got one of those green cards for missing forms today.... I guess I won't be getting a decision on Monday. When did everyone else get a green card?

does this mean decisions are coming out on monday may 1st?

Brian82721 and Timberland, thank you so much for your input. And yes, I did recieve an A in Calc. II (actually an A-).

As for the postcards, the only one I ever recieved was the blue one sent on the april 4th --which served as a reminder to my responsibility of getting everything in on time.

Most decisions will be in the middle of May. I got mine on May 6th of last year, which was way before the May 15th date they told me to wait for.

I got a green post card today saying that I was missing a teacher recommendation. Do they send these post cards to everyone, even those whose applications are complete?
I know its a long shot, but I was hopefully thinking maybe they wouldn't bother sending a post card asking for one of my two teacher recs unless my application was on the borderline? It is dated the 26th, and since the first batch of decisions for CAS are supposed to come out on the 7th, i would imagine they have started their review.

pstransfer, I was referencing May 1 b/c it's the date listed for when decisions start to be released. Judging by last year's decisions, I'm guessing no one will find out until at least the end of next week, if not the week after.

Did anyone get a green card (funny, I know) saying their application is complete? It was one of the checkboxes on the card.

timberland...the 7th is a Sunday, do u mean the 8th or the 5th (Friday), last year, a batch came out on the 6th, so i am hoping we hear sometihng next friday...that would be fantastic

i was told the 8th..then the 17th i think? i wonder if getting a greed card will set my decision back

no green card for me so far. if one of my teacher rec's got lost, i would be in trouble since my classes are over now.

and can you guys believe it's almost may 1st? time sure does fly by. i remember submitting my app early february, thinking it would take a lifetime for may to come around.

anyways, since they admitted 265 out of 1,534 last year, would anybody have a rough estimate on how many they'll admit this year?

bump..............

so many competitive applicants..

Those are this years stats. I believe. Didn't collegeboard already update?

Collegeboard having recent stats?

You don't know cb that well do you? :P

But they very well may be. Penn is way out of my league. I just applied for the hell of it really. When I get my rejection letter I'll just shrug it off and forget about it. Chicago on the other hand...I'll cry :(
