2006 Nass

Sea Trials and Indoc rocked. Martial Arts and Wargamming were awesome, Systems Engineering was AWESOME!

Chemistry is fun! We made polymers.

I put Foreign Languages as my top choice as that's what I want to do in the future ( Poli sci emphasis in International affairs with a minor in Russian but still taking as amny languages as possible. ) What was wrong with this seminar? Just boring?
Which ones do we get to take when we are up there and how likely are we to get the session we picked?

Oh yea, I finished my sports questionaire at 12:26!! So hopefully I'll find out in a month or so?

You applied early, so you'll probably get your first choice on session. I think you rank ten seminars (right?) and you get eight. But I think the character seminar is required, so ideally, you get your top seven.

Nobody has candidate numbers yet, right?

GlitterHairDye - i took the Foreign Language one, and it was pretty interesting, but at that point in the week you're so tired that it's a little difficult to pay attention in a class that's at a computer. i was envious of those students who had workshops where they were moving around or doing something really cool. i, like you, was interested in languages though, and that's why i think it was worth it. it does tell you a lot about what they offer.

"Sea Trials...the best day of my life..I WANNA GO BACK!!!!"

I couldn't agree with you more!!!!!
I loved Sea Trials!!!!!!!!!

oooo i cant wait until this gym about 5 minutes jog away opens up!! Ahhh im gonna be swimming laps everyday!!!

And summertime means my pool opens, so im going to be a little fish, as well as get stronger and all that great stuff

Finished around 1245.

My top three choices were:
1) Introduction to Literature and Rhetoric... I really enjoy reading and speaking. Whoever said it was boring, could you explain why? What's the workshop like, and what made it unenjoyable?
2) Introduction to Martial Arts... Can't go wrong with that, eh?
3) Politics, Freedom & Power... Sounded interesting.

Also, what kinds of things might prevent someone from being accepted? My grades and test scores are pretty good, and I'm deeply involved in some extracurriculars (including varsity track). Do I stack up with the rest?

Anyway... Good luck to everyone else applying. Anyone here from Ohio?

Introduction to Literature and Rhetoric isn't boring...at least I didn't think so. Basically, we read a story and then talked and analyzed it, then after that we discussed the English major and classes involved in that department. I enjoyed it I thought it was fun to see how everyone thinks and stuff.

I think the Lit and Rhetoric would've been fun if i wasn't so dog tired. Seriously, i was in the corner doing push ups. The others weren't so bad because you were moving around doing something. But then again, that's just my take on it.

Thanks for the replies. Now, to go read the paper. (This Saturday night is a blast!)

Anybody heard if there in or not this year? I guess that would be a new thread but I haven't seen anybody say they've been accepted yet.

its still kinda early

yea, id wait untill late febuary and april

Then one should make a thread . . .

Martial Arts was the best... but Foreign Languages was kind of boring. It was interesting but nothing special. I loved Sea Trials. It was funny. When we were at the indoor track doing to martial arts I had to carry my person every time we went around the circle, because she was way lighter than me.

In Sea Trials I absolutely loved the pool part. When we jumped off the 5 meter I screamed Beat Army! It was awesome.

Wasn't it a ten meter? But that was awesome! Sea Trials were really good, especially because the squad unity it created.

I believe the first round last year came out about 3-4 weeks after opening the applications. Navy was way behind Air Force and West Point in letting juniors know. Our kiddo heard from them within 10 days of each application

In an earlier post on this thread, SwimUSNA10 advised us that he received his "acceptance last year in the mail of Feb 22" and that he first learned of his acceptance "by an email a week before I even got the stuff in the mail." Considering this, I believe that we should be hearing fairly soon; check your e-mail and keep this thread going! Cheers and good luck to all!

I recently read something somewhere about getting a "score" from NASS. I'm really interested about this; did our squad leaders give us scores or something last year? Did that play a role in admissions?

SwimUSNA10 is a girl. Also, you should learn early not to expect anything timewise from Navy, as they will do whatever they want when they want. Could be two weeks or way over a month. Who knows?
