2007-2008 Computer choice?

For those of you who have been to orientation…

Did they announce what the computer choice and configuration would be when you arrive in late August ? My son will be a junior and is therefore due for a new unit and we were wondering what it would be.

Will there be a choice? A tablet ?

Thanks

I went to orientation but I found out about the new computer from a letter they sent in the mail. It is going to be a Thinkpad T61.

PC magazine rated it the best business laptop.

thanks....

If they tell you configuration information...please post it.

The T6x is a great unit. Our D has one for her college laptop. Very sturdy and reliable.

We are still waiting to see if they are officially ending the tablet program. My S was one of the 50% of the freshman who was given a tablet in 2005. It was way heavier than the thinkpad the other 50% got...but he grew to like the tablet. They were polling to see if people would pay extra for either a smaller unit or a tablet.

uh offhand

its intel core duo 2 1.8 ghz ?
2 gb of ram
128 mb video card
120 gb hard drive
cd/dvd optical drive
wireless card
XP small business ?

i know theres more
but trust me this is a great setup.

btw does anyone know how much this costs?

The way their computer program works is that students pay a 600 Per semester technology fee. For this fee, you get a "free' nice laptop including service and warranty. In fact, they will give you a loaner while it is being repaired. A new laptop will be given to students every two years. When they finish with their senior year, the students get to keep their laptop.

Grad students generally don;'t have the same deal with the exception of full time students in the MBA program.

Hope this all helps.

1200 for this laptop?
thats quite a bargain.
actually quite a steal with those specs.

its 1200 a year
