I'm nervous too. I wonder if most lodges are sending out results around this time.

We live in rockalnd county , New york.. my son has yet to recieve any bucks

No letter yet in OK. Still hoping though....

Yes! My mother received my "You've advanced to the next level" letter back home (I'm at boarding school right now). No mention of a cash prize, though. (I submitted to the Sebring FL lodge).

i got..
we are pleased to advise you that it has now been forwarded to the next level of judging.

at this time, we wish to congratulate you on all your achivements and putting together such a fine brochure.
your application was judged FIRST PLACE at the lodge level and we hope our check for $500.00 will help you get started next year.

enclosed: check for $500.00

thats waht i got from my lodge.

My daughter's Elks letters last year were dated Jan. 30, March 15, March 21 and May 11.

Would it be rude or strange to call my local lodge to find out if they've sent letters yet?

omg..they sent u a check directly already...ahhhh...

my letter says that i won at the local lodge level and advanced to the state competition and possibly national competition...

omg....i am so freaking happy............

"Yours was a fine brochure and we want to congratulate you and thank you for entering our scholarship contest. You will be interested in knowing the (name of city) lodge will award you one of our six $2000 awards. You will be advised at a ...blah...blah.."

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....i am so freaking happy.....

Congratulations kelqu!

is anyone here from tn...

Wow - That's fantastic that you've already gotten some money! Not all local lodges award cash, so you're really fortunate to be in the right place. Don't forget to write them a nice thank you note...

is it me..or the lodge that i sent it to didn't reply...what i meant is that I receive a letter, but it was a residential place ( like the address that sent me the notice was a man's address) ...maybe the person is the director.....i am forwarded to the next level, and listening to rainmama..i guess i would need to send a thank you note. But do i sent it to the lodge or the the residential person?

I think many lodges have a volunteer who is in charge of the competition, so I would send it to the lodge under that person's name/address. I don't think a thank you is required unless you're awarded money, though it certainly wouldn't hurt to thank the person and lodge for sponsoring the competition. Congratulations, ahhhhhh!

Just got my letter today...dated the 31st.
It didn't award me any money. Do all lodge winners get something? Or is there a chance that my lodge doesn't give out its own scholarhsip?

A lady from my local lodge called me today. She said I had a very strong portfolio, but didn't explain how I'm a U.S. Citizen when I was born in Vietnam. I provided her with the number on my Certificate of Citizenship, and said I'd be happy to drop by to give the lodge a copy of it. She said she didn't know if that would be necessary. She said they will advance it to the next level once they verify my citizenship. She didn't mention any local prizes, though.

I'm not sad, though. She made some comments that indicated she had personally looked over my portfolio, and that was enough to satisfy me. I was afraid I put in so much work only to not hear from them again.

I got my letter yesterday. I advanced to the next level, but no money.. kinda disappointed, hopefully I will do okay at the state level though.

I applied. I didn't get a letter yet but the guy who grades them at the local lodge is a substitute at my school and he told me I won locally. Only 6 people applied to my local lodge, heh.

what state and city is everyone from...just out of curiousity..
