how exactly do i contact my district, though? i looked on the website, but i can't seem to find anything like a district office or anything.

I received a letter stating that I advanced to the state competition, but have not heard that I won any money from district or local competition? Do people usually get money from the district/local competition?

it depends on your local/ district

I contacted my lodge and they didn't know, so I guess I'll just wait to see if I get a letter telling me about moving to state.

wow my local letter came late. it arrived now... dated 2/1 lol

Congrats Jenkster!! Still no letter in NW OK....bummer!!

Thanks! I have a feeling the lodges in OK are just very laid back/down low - to the detriment of the applicants' anxiety!

Funny thing, the official notification letter spelt "Thank" with an i.

Has no one heard anything in OK or something?

jlsniff--some local lodges have scholarship awards; others may not. Same goes for districts, but from my experience, the district level usually does not have money to give as a district is made up of a number of local lodges. All the first place local winners are forwarded to the district level where a panel of judges from the local lodges decide on which apps advance to the state level. If these lodges have money to give, they're usually going to give it to their local winners rather than a collective district winner.

I got a letter today, dated 2/11:
"Your app has been reviewed my the Southeast District (MI) judging committee...it has been forwarded to the next level of judging."

Does this mean it was forwarded to the state competition?

How many apps from a district go to state competition?

And I never heard anything from my local lodge. No letter, and especially no $.

I got a letter yesterday, dated 2/11 saying that my application had been forwarded to the DISTRICT competition. Doesn't this seem a little late?? weird.

So how many total CC'ers have gotten a letter forwarding them to the state level?

I have!!!!!!!!

Okay.. so I read my letter wrong. It actually just says I "advanced to the next level" so this could mean district or state, considering it's the first letter I've recieved. It is from the local lodge though. Anyone have any idea what's going on? Help?

dunno....mine said next level also..

You might get a hint from the letterhead of the letter. Does it say Elk Lodge #__ or Elks Lodge District #__? That might clue you in to which level you've advanced to. There are three levels before the national level: local, district, and state.

blindkite--if you received it from your local lodge, you've most likely advanced to the district level. The top winners from the district will be advanced to the state level. The state first place winners will be entered into the national competition for the scholarships listed on the Elks website.

Yeah, I thought it was just advancement to district. You're right. It just seems so LATE to be getting that letter! I mean, district judging ends soon..

mine says Elks Lodge!!!!!!!!!

lindsey i got the same letter today about the Southeast michigan district

however mine said i didn't advance :(

I didn't advance but I still got money! xD
