lhdistcass: I think it is different with each state/district. Last year my son made it through local and district so it went to state but didn't get picked at state. He did not receive any scholarship money from the local lodge or the district. Actually our lodge has a separate scholarship for our high school and he didn't even get that one which we were thinking he would since the other girl who interviewed had not even tried for the Most Valuable and had lower gpa and act scores and fewer EC's but she did however have a lower household income. I think it all just varies from lodge to lodge and state to state. Good luck!!

so if our names are there, that means we won the $1000 x 4 years?

I got a letter from the Oklahoma Elks Association saying I won a $1,000 scholarship yesterday. I'd pretty much given up all hope. This is the first letter I received.

So, there's still hope if you haven't heard anything!

Letter today from the Elks National Organization saying I am a national finalist and will get at least $1,000 X 4 years! Yay!

From national? As in, not state?

Oklahoma winners (State Level) are posted here.

Yes, from "Elks National Foundation," Chicago, IL. It says I am one of the 500 national finalists and they will choose 18 of the brochures by mid-May for the larger awards, and the remaining 482 finalists will receive $4,000 over four years.

I'm moving on to Nationals too. *woot!

Thanks faithinhim!! Great info!!!

i haven't heard anything, but i haven't gotten my materials back yet. don't they send them back when you're out?

I don't think they send them back. On the exhibits section, it reminded the applicant not to include originals because they would not be returned.

For PA applicants, the winners are posted here:

^^ thank you very much!

and i think i can now say i officially did not win anything.

@faithinhim: you're right, but a couple people said they got theirs back. maybe some local and districts did send them back, idk.

I still have not heard anything by mail. This is West Virginia.

Has anyone heard anything in South Carolina?

I'm a national finalist got a letter from them asking me to fill out a form so that I could be matched with one of their donors. I'm supposed to fill it out to match me with a donor based on where I live or what I want to major in.

Does this change the amount of money I'll get? Or what's the point of it?

Anyone from Washington State? I have just received one letter... I called them and they said that they would update me on my status but I've yet to receive further notifications.

ditto what lindsay217 said,

also, what if you don't know where you are going to colllege yet?

5th letter advancing me to the top 500, so that makes me a little happy after a ho hum day.

I'm getting worried. I've received absolutely nothing by mail one way or the other from West Virginia.
