-rszanto, did you receive an email to put you on the extended waitlist?

yes. It just said that I would be notified by mid June if I got in or not. It did say that it was a "slight" chance but it is better than nothing.

I was rejected!!!!!!!

Now, I really hope the rumor about Brown is not true!!!!!!!!!!!

rejected as well. hurts.

Rejected. Sigh.

Extended waitlist...=/ Better than nothing, I suppose!

didn't get in

c'est la vie

rejected...so depressing...

Extended waitlist too! If we were so close to making it, why didn't they just accept us in the first place...
June 15th yay! XD

rejectedd
oh well

off to pennn

ya i was extended as well.... lets just pray its in God's will

i got on the extended waitlist too :)

does anyone know if stanford has already accepted some people from the waitlist? or are the extended people the only ones who can possibly get off?? i couldn't really tell from the email...

i wonder if anyone who rejected the offer of admissions and then regretted it could call and beg to have a space back...is that possible (if its right after the deadline and people havent been taken off the waitlist yet)??

by the way i rejected stanford (and i dont think i'll ever have peace of mind about this) but its too late to change now so good luck to all of you on the waitlist and to whoever is taking my spot now.

I was rejected. Sorry to fellow rejectees who wanted to get in.

Anyone else read the part about "the response to our initial offers of admission was higher than we expected"?

I thought, wow, that's obviously a lie... do they think we don't communicate? Stanford adcom already said that the yield rate was lower than expected, but they still like to tell us that it was actually higher to make us feel better...

I'm off to Caltech, then! Part of me is really glad I didn't have to give up Caltech.

I was reading up on the waitlisting situation, and I stumbled across this article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/09/education/09admissions.html?scp=4&sq=&st=nyt

Here is the section on Stanford's Waitlist:
[quote]
Were over target right now, so were in good shape, said Rick Shaw, the Stanford dean of admissions. But Im keeping a small group on the wait list, because I think therell be some impact of wait-list activity at other schools.

Best of luck to everyone!

To those that were rejected...remember: somehow, college usually works itself out, regardless of where you end up.

“We’re over target right now, so we’re in good shape,” said Rick Shaw

^Awww...:(

The article also mentions that:

Princeton is taking 90, Penn is taking 90, Harvard 150-175, and Yale 45 - so we still have hope! the wait lists have been active as of now, so hopefully a bunch of kids leave stanford for the ivies!

i'm really sorry for the waitlistees.

but at the same time, i'm extremely happy that so many people admitted ultimately chose to go to stanford =)
