Political Science Internships

Hey I'm a freshman double majoring in Chem E and Political Science. I figured that since 2012's going to be huge in terms of political activity, I would apply for a few internships in that area. Right now, I'm deciding between the Obama Summer Organizing Fellowship and an internship in Sen. McCaskill's (D-MO) office. The Obama internship is more grassroots campaign oriented, whereas the McCaskill internship is more of a traditional office internship.

Which one do you think would allow me to form better connections/network more effectively? I'm leaning towards the Obama one since it will be a once-in-a-lifetime chance (since Obama won't be running again) whereas McCaskill will hopefully be in office for another six years! Any thoughts?

I’m an NTL at Obama for American on top of a full-time, unrelated internship. My 2 cents is that Obama for America allows you to network with so many people (you really get to know the staff in your local party headquarters) and gain translatable skills and knowledge (e.g., what states are battleground states, border states, priority states; how to organize a campaign) that it’s an opportunity you shouldn’t pass up.
