Youdon'tsay -- I was wondering about that also. Doesn't make much sense....

I don't think you need the code to see the score - I think it helps link you to other options on collegeboard's web site. But yes, there is a code - and at the moment, it isn't good for anything, as the current test results aren't posted yet - whether you've received your scores or not.

mom2010, are you saying that the access code will be the same from year to year and so last year's works for this year?

Youdon'tsay - even if it's the same code, the scores still aren't posted. I have my D's paper score and code from this year, but online, CB is still showing the 2007 score. Also, I don't think you need that code to see the score - you should be able to see it by just using your username and password.

for schools to withhold a student's score until some specified date when THEY decide to release it to the student.

It reminds me of the practice, years ago, of physicians deciding whether or not to disclose a patient's diagnosis to the patient.

The student should be able to pick up their scores as soon as they arrive at the school.

skyhook makes me feel like an old-timer. I've now been around long enough to see two years of complaints about the witholding of PSAT scores! :) And I agree.

You are correct - you don't actually need the code if you already have an account set-up. I believe you need the code if you haven't previously set-up an account with College Board. I was just suggesting if your school doesn't intend to distribute the scores before the 1st of the year you should be able to see them online by mid-December if you have an account set-up.

My son came home from school today with his PSAT scores. He was disappointed but... he is just a Freshman. He swears that he didn't leave any blanks in the math section but his report says that he omitted 2...maybe he needs bubble in practice!

Postal mailed score report to our homeschooling family arrived today (Monday 1 December 2008). We have NOT seen the question book from the Wednesday PSAT test, which I suppose is still at the high school where my son took his test. As it did last year, the score report shows the correct answer choice for each question by question number, but I don't know what the questions were. :)

Good luck to those of you still waiting for scores.

Last year the school held the scores until after the first of the year. Grrr....seeing that score, coupled with his December SAT results, made us change his SAT strategy (to a strategy that upped his SAT by 70 points in math and 50 in verbal.) The schools need to recognize that lots of the kids are trying to be done with the SAT by junior year, so it's important to see the scores ASAP.

missypie, what was the strategy change?

Karen Dillard (SAT prep) totally messed him up on CR. He took the SAT again in March. I told him to forget everything they taught him on CR, but he kept going back to KD for math. It worked. I was livid when the PSAT scores came out (you may recall) because after spending $$$ on the prep course, his math went up and his verbal went down, so his 10th and 11th grade scores were almost identical.

I do remember that!

The thing is, KD sends home all kinds of reports and practice test results and I noticed that his entry (base level) CR score was the highest and it went steadily down from there. I brought that to their attention and they had all kinds of "reasons" for it. I wish I'd had him stop going to the verbal classes as soon as I noticed the trend, but I let myself believe them. But, they did help him a lot in math.

Of course, the question will be what to do with the 10th grader for next year.

received scores today from our daughter's school-did not expect them until mid Dec and have not yet received notification from college board that they are available though we registered for notification.

That's right...and they're here...in Raleigh, NC at least!
