I had the opportunity to ask my son's counselor in a low key way. (She e-mailed me to tell me she'd fixed a mistake on his transcript.) According to her they don't usually get the scores till January. Hmph! She did say she'd pass them along sooner if she could. I'm not really counting on her remembering though.

Met with the counselor today, and she says she doesn't have them from the district yet but might by the end of the week. If she'd had them I'm sure she would have told me.

Congrats, joewii!

Our school (SW Ohio) says we'll get them by winter break.

Now I'm curious since other schools seem to have them, if they have them already and are just holding on for some reason? The stars have to be in alignment? :D

Some schools do sit on them. It takes time to match up the score reports with the test booklets, then find time to have a program (as suggested by College Board) explaining the meaning of the scores at a time when all the performing groups are having programs and rehearsals and when the counselors are very busy writing recommendations.

But it's easy for me to counsel patience - I don't have a dog in the hunt this year.

PSAT results arrived at home in Florida today.

No results here in Portland Oregon yet. My D is a sophomore, so there's no rush for us to know her score. She just wants to know how she can improve for next year.

My S is a sophomore and got his scores back today in Texas.

Allegedly nothing in my kid's NY school either. I wonder if they're holding the scores back for a bit.......

My S in SD received his today.

For those whose kids have gotten their scores.....did the school (counselors) give out the test results? How did you get the info?

My older son (a junior) has taken the PSAT for the past 2 years and is already registered on the website. Will he be able to get his score from there as soon as it's available?

My son, a 9th grader in South Florida, came home from school with them on Monday (Dec. 1). They gave them out in class (large public high school).

My D's school mailed out the scores on Nov. 25th.

Nothing here yet (WA-homeschool)

We haven't gotten anything either, AND, the only college type mail he's gotten recently was from the ROTC saying that based on his scores, he would be a good candidate. Does that mean he bombed???

All schools should have the results by now. It's now a matter of internal logistics within the school. Apparently it is a lot of extra work to deal with all the parent questions (forget the students!) at this busy time before Christmas recess.

I can understand why the schools/district want to get through the last-minute college rec rush, but I wish the schools didn't have to be the conduit. Why not mail them straight to the kids?

Here's the [very objectional] thing our school does: they hold the scores until January so they can offer a meeting to parents and students to "explain" the scores. The meeting is actually conducted by representatives of one of the commerical review companies (I think it's Princeton Review). So our kids are waiting 5-6 extra weeks for their scores so the school can give Princeton Review a free commericial!

^^Yes, why the heck not? This method works for the SAT and the AP score results.

What do they think is going to happen if we get the results without the school being able to spoon feed to us what they mean?

^^^ That's what our school does, but not led by a prep company. Instead a counselor reads a PowerPoint created by CB that we could all find online ourselves.

I'm not waiting to see whether S will make the NMSF cutoff; I'm just hoping he doesn't bomb it.

BTW, I notice no one who has gotten the score is sharing. I guess that's poor form online?
