2008 PSAT scores

The GC administrator just emailed me back with a message "try this access code." Well, it worked and yay! a 221 (which in TN is pretty much a lock for NMSF since last year was a 213.)

FWIW, DD went from a 196 last year to a 221 with (from what I could see) very little prep at all. She did say that she did the practice test in the booklet they gave them, and of course, it's a year later in terms of math instruction.

So, fellow parents of 2010, DD will now have a much better idea of what is possible for her in terms of schools. I have so many questions...

must...resist...the...urge...to...text...

School dismisses at 2:35. Track practice starts at 3:00. That allows a 25 minute window to contact Son and ask about his score.

Sigh.

But, I won't. A few more hours won't kill me.

Congratulations to your D, RobD.

I am also resisting the urge to text too, DougBetsy, but on my end it's because I know and she doesn't.....

And thanks for the congrats!

Congrats, RobD - your D got a great score!

YouDon'tSay - Happy Birthday! I missed where you mentioned it, so thanks, jackief, for bringing it to my attention.

DougBetsy - good luck in you new little vigil! Nice that this one will end in a few hours.

Congratulations RobD. Good luck in your quest!!

Happy birthday also, YDS!

I'm getting the run-around from both the principal and the district person in charge of the advanced curriculum stuff. "They" (the district people) decided that the counseling office was too busy this time of year to deal with sorting and distributing the PSAT scores. "They" don't see a problem waiting until Jan 6.

Grrrrrr................

Happy birthday, YDS!

Mrs. Weasley, S is a sophomore. He's pretty even across the board; lowest was CR at 72, which is a little mind-boggling, because CR had been stronger on previous SAT/PSAT.

reply #373. I don't know how to do the fancy quote thingies.

Happy Birthday, Youdon'tsay!!!!!
My husband's is the 26th and I don't have a single present for him yet!

Our wait is over! I'm so glad I was super busy today so I didn't sit around and gnaw my fingernails.

Anyway, S did extremely well, so we can relax now. 231. I really was mentally prepared for him not to do well because you never know, right? And there aren't that many questions so they count for a lot. An example--his friend who got a perfect 2400 on the SAT got 235 on the PSAT. Which is a fantastic score but not, after all, perfect.

Congrats to all, no matter how they did, and here's calming thoughts to those of you still waiting......Happy Holidays!

You mean quotes like this:

It's easy. Do this...

{quote}I don't know how to do the fancy quote thingies.{/quote}

Except, where I put { and } you're really supposed to use the straight brackets, [ and ].

:)

Great score, mommusic. Congrats to your S!

D1 was a NMF, which didn’t do a thing other than a recognition plaque, since she decided to let go all that free ride merit scholarship from our state college. Now she is a full pay freshman.

Like jackief, I am waiting for SAT score for D2 (Duke TIP for 7th graders). D2 took the test in Dec. and the score is scheduled to be out on next Tue (12/23/08).

missypie, we have not started Christmas shopping yet. D2 said if she can get a good SAT score, she will write the score down on a piece of paper, put it in a box, and wrap it up as Christmas gift for her dad as a little joke. I thought that was a good idea. However, I am a little worried that D2 will probably be disappointed, since her definition of good score is to beat D1 7th grade's SAT score, which is hard. Regardless, D2 and I will do some fun Christmas shopping this coming Saturday.

I'm hoping this child (#4) will take advantage of a free ride somewhere, as his sibs did not, tho they could have. Scholarships were nice, tho.

Congrats to all the Ss and Ds whose scores are coming in, and patience to all those w/recalcitrant GC offices....

Congrats to your S, mommusic - what a great score.

.

practing the quote technique as taught by DougBetsy - I hope it works.

mommusic - a free ride would be nice, wouldn't it? Is your S likely to choose a school that offers that option to NMSFs/NMFs?

Congrats momnmusic!

Owlice, down by 8 points overall but still in the 70s!? I hope your S was able to shrug off that disappointment and look forward to doing even better next year now that he got his slump score out of the way. :-)

Wow, look what happened while I was away???? Congrats to all those high scorers.

Must set record straight -- today was my birthday lunch, but my birthday was a couple of weeks ago. However, I am happily still accepting well wishes and free birthday lunches, so thank you all.
