3.5 is only for bio science majors. Other majors are 3.0 or 3.3. I forgot to mention admissions also told me a larger envelop will arrive next week for in this letter today, did not come the application form. One slip up, and, meaning if we even drop below a fraction of require pt ave, we then go into the normal tranfer pile. I guess for all of us who wrote and sent in extra stuff saying we really want Cornell, they are making us prove it.

Haha, yeah. I wrote them a letter and sent it via FedEx Overnight back in February telling them basically that I'd do anything to get in. I guess they're really holding me to that.

Just got my letter :). 1-year transfer to CALS Communications!

did anyone get a 2 year transfer yet??

Anyone know how many deferral (appox) there was this year? Any idea how many got the GT offer?

Sammy - In the CHE Transfer Option letter I got, they said they gave GT to about "250 to 300 of our more than 1400 freshman."

Did anyone else get a Transfer Option from CHE? To me, the letter I recieved sounds very vague; it doesnt differentiate between a one or two year offer and does not even gurantee anything - it merely promises "special proirity and preference."

Is anyone else's letter like this?

Matty, I got a transfer letter from CHE as well.
I agree, its very vague about 1 yr-2yr thing. It seems like its up to us to make the decision.

Matty , what is the CHE letter? I got the one year tranfer that said," looking forwward to seeing you fall 09." But, only if I meet the required stats. 3.5, which means I have to keep at least 3 As and 2 B's for even B+ dont add up to 3.5 because my understanding is there is no such thing as a B+. Bio Science is tough.

CHE is the College of Human Ecology. My friend received the same letter, but hers said a "1-2 year transfer option"

Wait hang on.. About the 3.5 across the board. Im an animal science major, so mine was a lower GPA for the cumulative, but a 3.5 for science classes, so I have to make sure I get 3.5 at the minimum in every science class? Or just in the ones that they required me to take (Chem 1, 2, & Bio 1, 2 with lab)? I thought I had some leeway to get a slightly lower grade in one as long as I got more in the other, but I guess not? Yikes, I hope I don't slip up in any classes.

In the science classes you are required to take you need a 3.5. So what they will do is first look at your cum to make sure you are above a 3.0. Then, they will look at your science courses to make sure you have a 3.5 in them....so essentially...you need to be aiming for A/A-'s (usually carry a weight of 4.0 and 3.7, respectively).

Here's a hypothetical situation (Chem/Bio with lab are usually 4 credits...so we've got 16 credits):

Chem I: A-
Chem II: A-
Bio I: A-
Bio II: A-

GPA = quality points/credits so 3.7 here

Chem I: A-
Chem II: B
Bio I: A-
Bio II: A-

GPA = 3.52

Aim high and good luck!

So i'm from NYS (NYC in particular) applied regular to Human Ecology's Human Development Major and today i recieved a letter about Transfer Option. Is there a Transfer Option Letter AND Guaranteed Transfer Letter (Twi different Letters) or is Transfer Option = Guaranteed Transfer? Sorry if this may have been answered but i read this whole thread and people are jumping around with related information and i'm confused, haha. thanks a lot!

From what I've seen, for all the colleges except for Human Ecology the transfer option was worded as a Guaranteed Transfer for 09 in the letters. Human Ec sent out letters that were more vague I think, but essentially it was the same thing? As long as it says something about keeping certain grade requirements, i think you're getting a either a 1 or 2 year guaranteed transfer.

Thanks Cindy, i actually called the office and they were very very positive about transfer (without knowledge of stats) so it is safe to say TO = GT at Human Ecology.

So wait, is this better than being waitlisted? I mean if you're waitlisted, its out of your hands, at least here if we get 3.0/3.3/3.5s we are guaranteed admission to cornell....

Yes....a GT is much better than a waitlist. The percentage of students who get in off the waitlist is very slim. If you have a GT, you a guaranteed admission if you maintain the specified GPA.

for any of you that are GT's that are to enter Cornell in Fall 08, have you received usernames and passwords to check your application status? and do you know when admissions decisions will be going out?

hi gt's ! Hope you're all doing well!
