2009 Fall Transfer To NYU

NYT, NYU’s financial aid is bad overall.

God, the more days go by the more i think i’m going to get rejected. I’m going crazy here

six string, i feeling the same way. I’m dying here waiting for a decision.

I’m oddly calm about it… I just think it’ll work out… and I did apply to one back up school that I wouldn’t hate going to

i’m pretty sure i won’t be thinking about it at all next week…considering i have like all my finals one day after another? boo

What the hell? Your finals start really early!

yup last day of classes is the 21st but i actually have a final due that day AND on “dead day” (that’s not allowed but the teacher is being a rebel lol). then i have on due thursday, one due friday, and one on monday. vanderbilt ends pretty early considering we don’t take off any holidays, winter break is like 2 weeks and all that. but i gotta stay around here like a bum till may 10 since i’m an RA haha

You’re transferring from Vanderbilt?? Is everyone else transferring from a prestigious school? Ugh, Im in trouble.

Don’t worry, I am definitely NOT from a prestigious school.

I’m transferring from a normal state school

I’m transferring from a normal state school, too. I have a mediocre high school record (3.6-3.7ish GPA and a 26 ACT), but a good college record (4.0 with 31 credit hours, strong recs, etc.). NYU is one of my dream schools, this wait is killer!

i’m not really sure whether transferring from a prestigious school gives you any kind of advantage, i highly doubt it. i wouldn’t worry it’s definitely about how you come across as a student and a person on the application.

the only thing i hate is when someone asks me why in the world i would want to transfer from vanderbilt. honestly, it’s not any different than most transfer students who have realized the university they are at is not the right fit (although there are those that want to move UP to a better school which i also understand).

I’m transferring from Michigan. I don’t think it will help me, though. I get the same question. Sure, Michigan ranks higher, but both schools are strong.

@Sweet.

What school did you apply to?

i applied to CAS since i’d be a gender & sexuality studies major, maybe minor in philosophy

No, I understand if Vanderbilt just isn’t right for you. I was just starting to get a little freaked out because you had mentioned Vanderbilt and someone else mentioned Michigan, and I DEF. do not go to a college like that currently.

CAS huh? I feel like everyone is applying there

CAS is the largest college at NYU and it has the widest range of degrees so that is to be expected. Almost every school is going to have most kids apply to the CAS. Even penn has more kids apply to the CAS school then Wharton.

Yeah, i understand that. I just always figured more people would try to transfer to Stern. But maybe not so much this year with the whole banking collapse and everything.
