2009 Fall Transfer To NYU

from GA going to college in GA

Good luck to everyone over the next few weeks. I think I am getting over paranoid over the decision that it is now counter productive to my daily life; I am not going to check CC until I get my letter. Acceptance or rejection will dictate a change in my educational goal but I hope everyone will get accepted to a school they like whether that would be NYU or not.

Haha yeah I’m checking here every 10 minutes,

I just hope it can end soon for good or bad, I can´t even sleep
if somebody recives their letter today POSTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

So, late last week I came to a realization that I no longer wish to study business or apply to Stern. I would rather attend CAS as a int affairs major. I called and talked to someone about if it’s possible to switch my application from Stern to CAS (without admitting that I don’t want to study at Stern, just that if it’s possible, I would like CAS better, since it fits my profile perfectly). The woman on the phone just said she would call me later. What do you think might happen? Will they switch it or is that impossible?

I bet they can… it doesn’t seem unreasonable to transfer your application although you may have to wait longer then most due to time to switch things over and your application will get put in the bottom of the pile.

most likely they will do it. i did the exact same thing with my cornell application. i originally applied to the undergrad business program which is in a completely different college, but then decided i would rather do the arts and science econ major. i called and they switched me over. i did have to send in new essays, though… my only worry in doing this was that i would appear unsure in what i wanted to study, so i addressed my reasons for changing in my new essay.

chance me?

UCSB Sophomore
Applying to CAS, dept. of politics.
GPA 3.67-7 after 5 quarters (but probably 3.75-3.8 if you only look at my last 4 quarters. got a 3.11 my first quarter in university then wised up.)
SAT: 700v/640m/700w
HS GPA: 3.7-ish I don’t really know, this is an approximation, and is probably thrown off by senioritis in my second semester senior year. Regardless, its still a pretty good transcript.
EC’s: Lots of volunteer work in HS (TeenLine, if you know the organization), did a semester abroad in Guatemala my junior year of HS, various academic awards, summer job as a legal assistant a law firm for the past 4 years, noncompetitive cross country last 5 years.
Essay: good. I’d say 8.5-9.0/10
2 very good letters of rec (at least one was promised to be a “ringing endorsement”)

also, I’ve found out this morning that my university has twice screwed up sending my transcripts. So, NYU has an unofficial copy (which, due to no error of my own, they only recently received,) but not an official one. I’m going postal on the registrar’s office this afternoon, but will this effect my admissions decision? I know I can get my university to admit fault, but will it help or is it at all useful? Help, I’m dying!

I’d say you have a pretty good shot, did you apply for Fall 09?

yes, I am a transfer applicant for fall '09

did anyone receive there decisions yet? I heard that some decisions were made and are going to be mailed out soon.

The mail man came today and he didin´t have a letter for me…
I would like to think that maybe tomorrow.

Bluewolverine- Where did you hear that some decisions were already made and going to be mailed out?

dj622 some students from the nursing school received their decisions and by the end of this week will be the beginning of May. Transfer applicants should be receiving decisions beginning in early to mid May.

Nursing students always hear earliest

If you look on the NYU website it actually says that Nursing School applicants receive their decision early to mid April. But I do believe some people will hear this week because last year a good many people did hear the last week of april.

if there are more applications than last year, does that mean the percentage of students accepted will be lower than last year, same, or higher? Also, which school has the highest acceptance rate and enrolls the most students?

I just got my acceptance to Stern omg I never thought I would get in!!!

^wow really? congrats! you are like one of the first people to find out

If you don’t mind saying, what are your stats? Just curious
