alexa693, assuming you took the form W test, do you happen to know if the answer to the writing question about recycling was “were to”?

Thanks.

Thanks.

^ Which would that be?

Edit: Referring to alexa.

lazyfeline, it was indeed “were to.”

Hey alexa was the list of questions that TQSMNTASP posted before the complete list of all the questions that were rated as “hard” by collegeboard on the PSAT?

the question on form w about “explanation of” that ended up being no error. in my mind, “explanation of” means a description of something whereas “explanation for” means the reason why something happens, and i thought “explanation for” would fit better in the sentence so i chose “explanation of” as being incorrect.

oh yeah, and i had form w

Alexa, I know how you feel. The writing question I got wrong was marked as “easy”. The answer was “no error”, but picking that option is the worst feeling ever – it feels much better to invent one for yourself.

Edit: For anyone interested, it was the “One reason the . . .” one. I thought that there should be “that” or some other demonstrative adjective following it.

Alexa, you’re preaching to the choir. :)

I’ve already written a fifteen page petition that cites a dozen dictionaries. So, worry not!

Hahahaha Alexa, I got an 80 on writing after finishing just about every question in 20 minutes and deliberating explanation of for the rest of the time.

I’d give you my 80 just to see you get a 240, if I could.

Well, no i wouldn’t. But that’d be cool. lol.

“after finishing just about every question in 20 minutes and deliberating explanation of for the rest of the time.”

I felt the same way. For about five minutes, I was just looking up at the sky repeating “explanation of” and “explanation for” in my mind.

Haha yea, at least for once my indecisiveness led to a correct answer. I think by the end I just decided that the answers were so similar that if college board were to find a flaw with the sentence, they were “doosh”-bags.

PS. Man if I was in your testing room and saw you just blankly staring at the sky I would have hated you. I was frustratingly stroking my temples and running my fingers through the hair on the side of my head. Hahaha

michael, trust me i would definately take your 80 to get a 240! and yeah the exact same thing happened to me, where i was flip-flopping between the two, but clearly i ended up choosing the wrong one :(

"ahhhhhhhhhhh

216… must pray for NY 218 to go down 2 pts… which probably wont happen… is it possible though???"

I’m with you, but I need it to drop 3 points!

My school performed really badly this year, so I have hope.

“i ended up choosing the wrong one”

Or so they say.

By the way, have you had a chance to peruse my document?

I got 80 cr 64 m and 80 w for 224 total. Should this be good for new jersey national merit?

Still waiting for my own scores. My school unceremoniously just hands them back in English class like regular graded papers. My teacher doesn’t know if they’re in yet, but she said “Oh, I think they’ll come in soon… Not sure when…”

Haha, congrats, Zerafenix/Perry xD

Though I’m not sure how much weight PSAT scores really have for getting into colleges (other than NMSF cutoff). Do colleges really consider them (sorry, I have no experience at all in these matters)?

crap no scores yet :(

Have any New Yorkers received their scores yet? My school is pretty incompetent so I can’t expect anything from them. :(

me too, angry…

Went and asked my counselor when we would get the scores back… she said last week of December (right before winter break). :(
