Oregon gets all the good gear because the CEO of Nike is a Oregon alumni, and Nike is headquartered there…they are beefing up the basketball team too.

As far as Boise State playing in the national title, I agree that they really aren’t deserving, but in this circumstance I don’t care.

I mean, what is a team who wants to play at a high level suppose to do? You just can’t joing a BCS conference, you need to be invited, and you only get invited if you have a major market which Boise State doesn’t.

I know it wouldn’t be fair, but I will just use the “life aint fair” defense on this one.

Who thought that those TCU and VT Nike Pro Combat Uni’s were sick?

Dang, TCU’s helmets were cool.

Boise’s gray jerseys were pretty ugly.

Oregon’s uni’s are pretty cool. I liked the UO Rose Bowl uni’s (green jersey, white helmet, white pants, white socks, green/white cleats). I also like the carbon helmets and black jerseys. Not a fan of the feathers and neon yellow jerseys though.

PSU-Bama is a really over rated game. PSU doesn’t have a QB. Gameday shouldn’t be there, but they just go to the SEC game of the week or the Herbie/Musberger game. ND-Mich, FSU-OU, tOSU-THE U, and South Car-UGA are all much more intriguing matchups.

I was hoping VATech would eliminate BS from the national championship discussion… since that didn’t happen, I’m secretly praying that they play an SEC or Big 12 powerhouse. The ensuing domination would be hilarious.

Other than that, it’s almost kickoff for Georgia-South Carolina!! Also hoping for a USF upset over Florida.

VT just blew it for Boise State. It’s going to be an uphill battle for VT to be ranked at the end of the season and Boise State desperately needed to beat at least one ranked opponent.

And so much for Georgia. Is South Carolina the SEC East favorite now?

Ha! The ACC is looking pretty bad right now. GT loses to Kansas (who lost to North Dakota State). VT loses to JMU. FSU gets killed by OU. Miami loses to the Buckeyes.

UNC may win the ACC afterall.

And South Carolina is the 2nd best team in the SEC right now. What’s up with that?

so uh… Trent Richardson, running back for alabama can benchpress 460 and squat 600+… And he’s only second string.

This guy can lift more than linebackers and can probably pack a bigger punch than Adrian Peterson, and he’s only second string. I find that mind blowing.

USCe played a mediocre game; besides, USC has a very tough schedule including Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, and Clemson. I’m predicting that USC goes 7-5, with UF winning the SEC East. Not sure if you posted this comment during halftime, but the way UF’s O stepped it up the second half, they will likely win the East.

I’d put Alabama, Florida, and Arkansas all over USC at the moment.

That was the sloppiest game I’ve ever seen USC (west) play. 13 penalties, 140 yards, things like false starts and personal fouls. Even in the rah rah practice is a party Pete Carroll reign when USC would usually end up 10th in the Pac-10 in penalty yards, there was nothing like this.

At least the defense played much better than vs Hawaii. Virginia should have had only 7 or 10 points, if it wasn’t for the penalties.

USC looked pretty bad last night and could have very well have lost that game. UVA took dumb penalties, missed key FGs, dropped key passes, and the QB threw a dumb pick that cost UVA at least 3 points. Just like I said, USC will start to struggle when they play real opponents. Jake Locker won’t throw in to double coverage when UW is at USC’s 5 yard line. And Oregon is going to end up in the NC game if they avoid their mid season meltdown.

Florida hasn’t impressed me at all. Without Demps, their offense is completely stagnant. Arkansas doesn’t have a defense and South Carolina seems to have found a running game and a pretty good RB in Lattimore. South Carolina always has a strong defense and if Garcia can manage games, then South Carolina will end up in the SEC title game.

The ACC could potentially be run over once again in two consecutive weeks.

I’m heading to Auburn for the Clemson - Auburn game and while I’m hopeful we can pull it off, I don’t know if we will win. (but at least I can be there for gameday).

Other ACC games next week:

Alabama-Duke
NC State - Cincinnati
Maryland - WVU
FSU - BYU
Wake - Stanford
VT - East Carolina

half of those are probably gonna be losses.

NC St beats Cincinnati yesterday. It wasn’t a very good game but I think Big East is terrible this year also. Mountain West might be better than Big East and they don’t get an automatic BCS. Mountain West is definitely going to get an automatic sometimes soon since Boise St will join next year and Fresno St & Nevada hoping to join the year after.

The Big Least is certinaly horrible this year, as is ACC.

However, the MWC won’t get an auto bid, at least not as the result of the BE losing theirs (which it won’t).

Remember, the MWC is losing their top 2 programs (BYU/Utah), and the addition of Boise State won’t mitigate that loss, not even close.

Plus, how does Fresno State and Neveda help the MWC? They have no positive BCS data. They were only picked up in an effort to prevent BYU from going solo, which didn’t work.

They re-evaluate the BCS every 4 years I think (maybe 6), there is a group of 3 separate criteria to qualify for the BCS. Last year, statistically speaking, the Big East ranked as the second most competitive conference.

The hopes of the MWC getting an AQ are over - why do you think BYU left? No reason to stay on a sinking ship.

And, let’s get real about Boise State, I like em, but if you put them in a legit conference with a competitive OOC schedule they’d be an 8/9 win team, sometimes less.

The problem with comparing the WAC/MWC to the Big East/ACC is not the top teams. The top teams from the WAC/MWC are arguably competitive with the top teams from the Big East/ACC and since the Big East/ACC are in a down year, possibly better.

With the MWC and especially the WAC, the problem is the bottom teams. Take the Sagarin computer rankings. They have the bottom 3 teams in the ACC ranked #54, 59, and 75. The much criticized Big East’s bottom 3 are ranked 80, 81, and 93.

This seems weak, but when you compare to the WAC’s bottom 3, ranked 107, 110, and 177, and the MWC’s bottom 3, ranked 109, 114, and 142, it’s significantly better.

How much better? Between 93rd ranked Louisville and 107th ranked San Jose State (the highest ranked WAC/MWC bottom 3 team), there are 6 FCS teams. 177th ranked New Mexico State is sandwiched between FCS teams Colgate and Georgetown.
