2010 Applicants: Answer to "Is Dec. 1st the deadline for EVERYTHING?"

A couple of other applicants have mentioned the same problem. I can’t help because I do not have access to a current online application - in the past, the USC ID displayed in the top left corner.

If you are unable to locate the USC ID, be sure to put the applicant’s name as on the application and birthdate on all materials submitted. They will be able to match them up with that. If you need forms, pdf versions are linked in post #8 of the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/952301-new-applicant-toolkit.html?highlight=faq+usc+financial+aid+2010</a> thread.

Good luck!

Thank you alamemom for your advice!
To people having trouble finding their USCIDs: I don’t know where mine is on the actual USC application but if you go to the Document Management System it says mine in the top left corner.

hi, for the dec. 1 scholarship deadline, does this mean we have to submit the CSS profile for financial aid by dec. 1 too? or is it feb. 2?

The December 1st deadline is for admissions applications.

The financial aid deadlines are as you have researched - the CSS/Profile and FAFSA are due by February 2nd. Mention to your parents now that they will have to have either their taxes done early or very good estimates ready in January. Start on the CSS/Prifile and FAFSA by mid-January - the financial aid forms can be a bit confusing the first time around (and second… and third… and fourth… ) Pick up the book, “Paying for College Without Going Broke 2911” NOW and suggest your parents read it cover-to-cover.

I’ll be posting more financial aid info after the December 1st excitement calms dxown.

I don’t see that USC received the fax of my recommendation so if I told my teacher to fax it again tommorrow will it be counted as on the 1st?

If your school did not use the cover sheets provided by USC (and they do not have to use the cover sheets), it will take some time for documents to show up - they are receiving at least 80,000 documents for the December 1st deadline. If your school FAXED it, then it has already been faxed.

Hello, my situation is abit different here…
I am applying to School of Cinematic Art which also have a deadline of 1st Dec.The school has its own supplemental materials (e.g. visual sample)which i have alr finished.
However when i submitted my part2 application, it is stated that

‘Supplemental application materials are required for each program. Click here for details. Submit these through the “My Admission Documents” link in USConnect. This service becomes available after we process your submitted Part 1 or Part II application.’

Hence, does it mean that i cannot upload my materials until my application is processed?
How long does it usually take to process? And it is almost for sure that the suplemental materials will be uploaded after 1st Dec. would it lead to any consequences to my application?
what can i probably do right now???

Thanks for any reply!

also, will i received e-mails from USC to tell me tt my app has been processed and i can start uploading or i have to check USCConnect constantly?

I suggest you post this as a new thread asking this question - in the past, SCA applicants were required to have all supplemental materials in by the 1st. Also email your admissions counselor - it is possible there is an update to the system and the little quirks have not become apparent until everyone is trying to use it.

If the materials can be uploaded, my thought for a back-up plan would be to attach and email them to SCA admissions. Do you have a contact email for them?

Again, don’t delay in getting your materials in - the deadline for SCA has been very strict in the past.

Contact info for SCA:

Hi Alamemom
Thank you very much! I am going to e-mail them my materials RIGHTNOW.
Really,u save the day!

:) Good luck!

Question: If I put Dec 1st on my Teacher recommendation and application and I can’t make it by then… will i get penalized? or will they consider me for the regular decision?

If your application is not in by 11:59 pm on December 1st (today), you will not be part of the group considered for merit scholarships. You will be fine for the January 10th, 2011 deadline.

As for your other materials, please go back and read post #1 on this thread - I promised myself I would not type it up again (I have answered that particular question way too many times  ).

Good luck!

There is no longer a “Form 5,” but the rest of the info in this thread still applies.

Good luck!!!

Quick question, though I know this thread is old. I sent in two sets of SAT scores (my old ones on the 18th and my new ones as soon as they came out on the 22nd). Both of them are still pending. I self reported my scores on the common app, but do I need to fax them an unofficial report? Or should the scores get there in time? I tried talking to my school counselors about this, but they all looked at me like I was crazy and I don’t know if they’ll fax them. No one is answering my questions and it’s driving me up a wall! haha

Print out your score reports (or use the reports you received in the mail), and FAX them in yourself. The school is responsible for sending the official reports, and you send in the unofficial reports.

Office of Admission Fax Number:
(213) 821-0200

Thank you  I just didn’t know if I had to send them from school. My mom has a FAX machine at work.

Wait…I need to fax in unofficial sat scores?

No, I just did it to be sure because Collegeboard still lists my scores as “pending.” I called today, though, and the man at the admissions office said it should be fine that they’re pending. Sorry to cause any unneeded worry!

Phew, thanks for updating me:)
