2010 Decision Thread for Deferred Applicants

I have a feeling that the admissions staff didn't even look at our applications...they just wait-listed us without having a second look.

Yeah, I bet they waitlisted A LOT of people because they knew we were really ****ed off for waiting so long and this was their attempt to let us down easy without outright rejecting us.

F michigan, so basically instead of rejection, they waitlisted all the people?

Michigan's waitlist practices are pretty consistent year to year, at least in terms of the sort of people who get waitlisted as opposed to rejected (although the how many, and the when, may vary a bit). They do not change it according to the mood of the applicant pool.

Yes, some people were rejected, if that's what you are asking.

Did anyone else get the "A decision will be arriving in the mail" thing? Can it be infered it's a rejection? Has anyone been accepted through WA after being defered in the past couple days? Whats the deal with it?

waitlisted...is everyone? LSA is what I applied, I wonder, do they rank the waitlist, I bet this year they will use it.

They do not rank the waitlist.

i wasn't deferred, but i just found out waitlisted. oh well, i wasn't really expecting to go here anyway.

"Your decision will be arriving in the mail." --> applied on 3/4 as transfer applicant, deferred on 3/24. College freshman with 2300 SAT (retook this fall from 1360 in HS) and 4.0 College gpa/3.5 hs. Surprised, to say the least.

Waitlisted as well, I knew this was going to happen. Many of us are definitely qualified if not overqualified for Umich. We have all been accepted to great schools. This is my first non-acceptance, but im not that upset because I applied really late(jan 29th) and I couldnt afford it anyway.

what were your stats ryan2288 and which school did you apply to (LSA, engineering, etc??)

Was waitlisted...here I come Indiana :) WOOOT

i was waitlisted too...

Rutgers here i come

um why is everyone waitlisted..this is like some sort of mean joke..esp after making us wait so long. And ppl saying that they have 20,000apps so it takes long to get back to us...think about the UCs such as ucla (they had a record of 47000 apps i think but they got back to us on march 10 when we applied nov 30!)

anyway screw umich..UCSD all the way..go human bio! maybe ill apply umich for med if im good enough.

does anyone know how many was put on waitlist?

Hellz Cheaz!! I Love The Uc System, They Know What They Are Doing Better In Regards To Applications!!

kidA, which school do you go to?

The UC system does precipice admissions, where all appications have to be in by November 30th. I don't think you're comparing a like system. Michigan's deadline is TWO months later, and yet they had all decisions out just one month later than the March 10 notify date UCLA had. In addition, it handles a Summer class, too, which ULCA (for example) doesn't. Given such differences, I'm not sure the comparison is truly valid. It's a different system.

yeah, but im saying the UC system is way better...cuz u get decisions out earlier, no deferrals- its either a yes or no. I like that better..
