I know that the subject tests don’t mean a whole lot in the process, but I have a few questions after receiving my official score report (below).

Overall: 640 86%
Biochemistry 54 54%
Cell Bio 69 95%
Mol Bio Genetics 69 96%

Is this going to be a red flag for my biochem sub score? I have taken Biochem I and II and received a B and A respectively. I guess I’m alittle worried that this might pose a problem. They stated on the report that I omitted 12 questions when I am 100% positive I only omitted 5. Does anyone have any experience with regrades from ETS? Am I worried about nothing? Is this a total waste of time?

Yes, I uploaded my CV as an additional document. Mine was 2 1/2 pages long. I don’t think it matters how long it has to be, because when I submitted mine, it was accepted!

GCN2: I wouldn’t worry about it. If you are certain you missed only 5 (mine was correct as to how many I missed), MAYBE you could try to do something about it but to me that idea seems way more of a headache that it is worth. Your other scores are fine and it doesn’t make sense to me how someone would be able to learn other things but not biochem. If you can learn and master other areas, imo, you can learn biochemistry too… I think so long as all other marks are fine, this slip wont really matter.

Subject tests are still paper-based, right? If that’s the case (and if I remember correctly), then you can pay for a re-score. If ETS failed to properly scan your test, then your score is adjusted, and you receive a refund. If they determine the score is correct, then you’re out the money.

It may be too late in the application cycle for a re-score to be registered; however, if you are 100% certain and can afford the fee, whatever it is, then you have little to lose.

I filled out the pre-application for UCSD Biomedical Sciences in August and heard back in about a day. Oh, and I’m a US citizen if that helps. I’d contact the admissions office if you filled out the form a while ago and haven’t heard back yet.

I sent everything, transcript and GRE score, and ready to submit applications. But recommendations are not yet submitted. Should I wait till recommendations are sent? Or should I submit applications b4 recommendations are sent?

It doesn’t matter if you submit before or after the LORs. 2/3 of mine have been submitted LORs before I submitted my applications (I’ve just started submitting mine). It just wont be complete. I like that now I can at least track GRE scores and transcripts.

And honestly, why do people insist on spelling words incorrectly, consistently, not because of a mistake.

Also I think all the schools want to know my financial situation and if I have my own funding etc.

What do I say?

For example Duke wants a brief statemnt on my funding but I dont have any and it seems weird if I say I dont have any I need the funding from the school.

For those wondering about submitting your apps and LORs. I have submitted all but 2 applications (so 12) and none of them have all of the LORs yet. One of my letter writers is submitting this weekend. Have no fear submit away.

How about admission fee? Some schools require the applicants to pay by check, and from my understanding, it seems that it needs to be accompanied by a payment voucher that will come out once you submit the application. So, does it mean I need to submit it at least a couple days before the deadline in order to have the check delivered in time?

(Btw, I asked the schools about this but haven’t got any replies yet until now. I guess they got too many questions recently. somebody know the answer maybe?)

Yes, Cornell Weill can be paid for using credit card. I
m mad because U Chicago didn
t say anywhere on the website that you can pay using credit card but mentioned money orders and checks… so I didn
t want to discovered too late that I couldn
t use a credit card so I made a money order… which cost me more than it would via credit (cause I had to convert from CAN to US currency) PLUS sending it. AND appearantly I have to include some form with the money order that I had access to only after submitting my application but I sent the money order last week… I hope it goes through because UChicago is like my top choice now. Grrrr.
