scm, how many hours are you coming in with? Are you in CAP? And (just to make sure I’m reading it right) you’ve completely finished all the indicator courses?

37 hours (not including the 16 I am taking this semester)
Im in CAP, it is basically my fallback plan
And I have finished them all except I am currently in Cal 2

Does me being in Cal 2 this semester mean that I will not find out a decision until my final Spring transcript has been sent to UT?

Fall back plan for what…?

Yeah dude, if you don’t have all 4 done by the time you applied, you won’t find out until after you send in your Spring grades. I’m doing Micro and Calc 2 this semester, so we’ll find out by early June at the latest. Good luck man! Hopefully I’ll be seeing you this Fall.

If I dont get into McCombs then I will fall back on the CAP program where I will be guaranteed admission into UT for undergraduate studies

I want to transfer but I’m a freshman so I’m not going to start the transfer process till this fall to start there in the fall of 2012. I have a question and I hope it doesn’t sound silly but what is an indicator course? Are those the requirements or what?

balletlover, no offense, but there’s a whole website for transfers with all the information you need to apply. Google McCombs transfers and spend the extra minute looking it up.

I have googled McCombs transfers and have spent the extra time looking it up. I still don’t understand what an indicator course is though. I thought that by asking in here one of you could answer me this question, however I have come to realize that that is not so. I have an idea what it is but I just wanted to verify. I thought this website was to help fellow students out, not to tell them off and demand them to go elsewhere.

I didn’t ‘tell off’ anyone balletlover. I simply stated a fact that there is a website that has everything you need to know. I am sorry if you felt insulted, but I felt that was a question that didn’t need to be posted.

There are 2 websites: [Getting Admitted | McCombs School of Business | The University of Texas at Austin](http://new.mccombs.utexas.edu/BBA/prospective/Admission.aspx) and [Business | Transfer | Be a Longhorn](http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/transfer/admission/majors/business/) which have everything you need to know. I seriously find it hard to believe that you had difficulty finding these 2 websites (the latter one stating explicitly what the indicator courses are).

FYI, for the first website, you have to go to the ‘external transfer’ tab to find out what you want to know. Just in case you need help finding that.

I don’t know but the comment “spend the extra minute looking it up” seemed uncalled for. Anyways it’s fine I’m not even planning on attending McCombs business school. I happened to come across this thread and found the term “indicator course” which I have also encountered on other threads. I just wanted to know what it meant. So honestly I haven’t spent any time looking at the McCombs website because I don’t plan on going there. My major is biology so I should be looking at the College of Natural Sciences. But when one asks a question it would seem polite to just answer it and not make such a big deal on how stupid the question might seem. I had already said I felt silly asking it and your response made me feel a hundred times worse! Anyway thanks I guess for your answer.

That was passionate.

You’re welcome, I’m sorry if I made you feel THAT bad. I was half joking when I wrote it, so don’t take it too personally. Good luck at where ever you go and transferring!

1) Current College: A local Community College
2) Current GPA: 4.0
3) Gpa after Spring Semester 4.0-3.9
4) First Choice Major/College: Management
5) Second Choice Major/College: Economics/COLA
6) Courses Completed: 2/4 Business Indicator Courses (Cal 1 and Macro), with a bunch of other pre reqs consisting of 35 hours overall. I will finish the remaining business courses in the Spring.
7) Tons of Community Service, 2 amazing essays, and even joined an international honor society at my Community College.

By the way, I contacted The University of Texas Admissions office recently and they claimed that most likely if you have 30 hours or more, they will make a decision on the spot. So I’m hoping they will make a decision in case I make a B in Cal 2. Series/Sequences blow…

CowboysFan! We need to talk some ***** out! I’m in the exact same position as you. I applied with about 40 transferable hours and am in the process of finishing Calc and Econ 2. I’ve gotten credit/completed/in the process of completing a bunch of prerequisites as well. I heard that they are going to wait until our spring grades are out regardless of hours. This is from Blake Wilms - an admissions counselor. Which counselor and how did you hear that from? What courses have you done exactly? I will have completed basically everything on this guide http://www.utexas.edu/student/admissions/tccn/2008-2010/business.pdf by the end of the semester. I’m finishing off Bio, Econ, Calc, Accounting, and Hist 2 this term and Speech and BCIS in the summer.

FYI, are you talking about Phi Theta Kappa? As long as you have a 3.5 (which is honestly an unofficial minimum to be taken serious at McCombs) you’re basically in the society…

And I agree with the Calculus 2 thing. I have a 4.0, but Calculus is being a b**ch and I might get a B in it by the end.

PM me so we can talk in more specifics, and check out my specific stats on the previous page! Hopefully we’ll be seeing each other at the McCombs orientation haha.

Hey JammyD,

I spoke with Senior Admissions Counselor Lisa A. Lockhart. She told me that it was highly probable that the Admissions Center will make decisions for those who have 30 hours or more regardless if they have completed all 4 business indicator courses. I too have completed most of the courses on that guide you posted earlier. Regarding the international honor society, it was just something I could exploit for resume purposes lol!
And yeah, Calculus two is a MOTHER F*****. So far I have an 94 average but will I maintain it?

-Later

Assuming that you’re right, not having completed the indicator courses wouldn’t be held against us though, yeah? Like we won’t get auto-rejected because we technically haven’t completed it, though we’re in the process? Since it’s my first semester at my current college, I’m going to have to send in an updated Resume with my PTK acceptance (as I wasn’t officially accepted when I applied). Good luck dude, and post back if you hear anything!

Dude, I’m like at the top of my class for Cal 2, BUT it’s insane! If I can’t hold it, I’m going to be fing *ed. A high B is going to give me a heart attack.

Good luck bro!
