Thanks lomein, now I’m going to spend this next week as a nervous wreck. :P

what state is everybody from? last year, the date for received letters varied quite a bit

Wiscooooooooooo <10 people applied from my state lol

The beautiful garden state, Jersey! I’m sure that there are quite a few who applied from here.

I’m from WA… probably a number of applicants from here but not from where I am.

Mmm, then I might have been mistaken. The fact that you’ve posted again just might prove my previous comment wrong.

Sorry for accusing you so brashly ^^; I just don’t take a liking to most people spewing false information.

And if it is coming this week… Then I’m scared as hell… Just watch me post “I got rejected.”

^ its quite alright, and don’t think like that, you’ll probably get in!
I’m expecting letters to arrive for my state friday of this week or monday of next week hmm

What state are you from, if you expect letters to come by Friday? o.o

I’m from Arizona, so I should be getting them letter than the vast majority.

i’m probably the only one to have applied in my state…

Then it is easier for you to get in.

Which state is it?

rhode islandd. and really? i thought it didnt really matter what state you were from

No, there’s a slight geographic distribution as far as we can tell. The logic behind it is that many of the kids are qualified, so instead of taking all 50 qualified kids from California, they take maybe 4 or 5 from California and get the kids from other states as well.

so in simpler words, if i had similar stats and qualifications as someone else in a more populated state, i’d have more of a chance of getting accepted?

But you have to understand that in these areas it is also more difficult to find opportunities to pursue when compared to overrepresented states (such as aforementioned California). I don’t have the chance to work at a world class facility at the Wellman Center of Photomedicine at Harvard Medical School.

dude me neither. but at least i have brown to walk around in…

Haha, my state has literally no good schools (though I’ve been able to formulate three different research positions from it). Did you had previous research before you applied to RSI?

no not really…i’ve worked in my dad’s lab @ brown once or twice to do my science fair project and that’s probably it.

Any Pennsylvanians in the mix? Are there any Pennsylvanians on this thread who put math as their first topic?

Hi! I opened a cc account as I also applied to rsi and am awaiting my rejection letter this week, lol! I had a question for the cc community: Did anyone else apply to TASP as well? I realize we have a humanities/science conflict here but was wondering, still, if I am the only one who applied to both. Thanks!
