hahaha what others are you applying to, if you dont mind me asking?
PS. MIT ESP has a bunch of good programs - some are only 30$ for classes

@ketracer - lol, I’ll message you so we don’t keep taking up board space

lightningfax message me as well, i need a bunch of safeties for RSI lol…

umm for the prompt about the questions, should we talk about problems in our subfields or main fields?

and are environmental science and biology different? cuz im interested in those 2… but then again what would be a subfield for enviro science? or any better ideas for another main field?

and can my main field by physics and subfield be biological engineering?

Fee waiver - if i request for a fee waiver, do we need to send any documentation? it’s not very clear from the instructions.

Hi guys, I’m new to CC and I wanted to ask - I know they don’t specifically say to send a resume with your application but they don’t say a lot of things specifically… So is it a good idea to send in your resume with the application?

Thanks in advance!

@prateeksach: I didn’t send one, I don’t think it’s necessary. You can say a lot of what you have done by answering the application questions themselves.

@itsme: I’m not familiar with the fee waiver, sorry!

@Nspiredone: You don’t HAVE to talk about the problems in your fields, but it might be a good idea to. It shows you’ve done work/are familiar with your fields.

for the question about what kind of extracurricular activities and/or hobbies that demostrate my interest and ability to undertake scientific or mathematical research, can i write about my experience of working at a hospital? would that count as being scientific?

Well, you don’t really do anything related to medicine or anything related to science when you volunteer at a hospital, thus it does NOT directly relate.

Can recommendations be mailed separately? It will be impossible for me to see my recommenders soon enough. My research mentor will be out of town all month, plus it will be difficult to see my math professor because the semester is over.

bump…

i’m wondering about the same thing…

one of my teachers writing recs is known for procrastinating until the last minute AND he lost everything i gave him over the winter break, which means he has to re-do everything and im guaranteed to pay a lot of $$$ for overnight shipping if i want to mail everything together =____= it’ll be really nice if we can mail the recs separately…

ahhhh I’m totally freaking out about this.

Plus, I’m not sure where my mentor is. She’s observing, so she may well be in Chile right now… I feel really bad about asking her to pay a lot of money to mail things, even though I’ll obviously reimburse her. Still, I thought I was going to see her today and she sent me an email at like 1pm saying she wasn’t there… >.<

so um hello,
i just found out what RSI is today and need to get everything done this week.
are there really lengthy essays?
also if i’ve taken the SATs (which is failed), but don’t want to show it. can i? can i just show my psats? how will they know if i’ve taken the SATs or not?

Just send PSATS

Hey guys I’m new to cc and to this thread…also a RSI hopeful :P

I have a question about the fields…is Biochem a field? What about Medicine? I don’t really know how general a “field” is for Question 2…

and do you need to have a research project in mind before you even set foot in MIT?

Sorry I have another question…is it okay to be a little “cute” and humorous in your essays?

I am a student from Beijing, China. I really hope I can get a opportunity to join into this grand meeting and communicate with the professors and students. This year I am studying in United States for exchange at grade 11, I wonder if I should come back China
to take part in the trial for Chinese students or I can have qualification to go though it as US applicants, or there is an other special approach for
the exchange student like me?Thanks
