To Fall 2012 applicants: I have about 14 W’s on my transcript and academic renewal. Don’t feel discouraged if you have a ton of W’s…you can make it up with a killer personal statement/EC’s and an upward grade trend to show that you’ve improved!

congratz cherryvaseline!!! hey, i didn’t kno cal had international development studies also…

I seriously don’t know what I should do now, because I am pretty lost right now for being rejected by both UCB and UCLA. It seems either UCD or UCSB will be the place for me next year, and I have no idea why UCSD placed me to Revelle while I was placing it at 5th.

Major: Civil/Environmental Engineering
GPA: 4.0 (current CCC), 2.9 (Berklee College, 5 years ago), not sure what the cumulative number was on the app.

I actually have a total of 69 units on my Berklee transcript, which is a Bachelor’s of Music program, but as you might have guessed the vast majority are not transferable. My final semester at Berklee (Spring '06) looked like this: F F F F B F B. It feels great to have passed another milestone toward putting that time in my life behind me. Never give up!

CCC Transfer
Major: Math-Econ / Math for Cal

Accepted: UCLA UCSB UCD
Rejected: UCB, UCSD (Wait list)
Tag: UCD
Prereqs: Missing 1 for UCLA, 2 for UCSD (strange because the macro and micro econ in my school doesn’t transfer to UCSD, but the neighboring CC does) Missing 1 UCD, Complete (and a recommended course too!) UCB, Complete UCSB

IGETC: Completed

EC/Work Experience: Math Tutor, Foreign Exchange (trading foreign money and dollars)

I’m guessing I got rejected from Cal because of that strange unit requirement (If you have 80 units from a CC and a 4 yr university you are automatically rejected)

Go Bruins!

Major: Art Practice/ Design Media for UCLA only
GPA: 3.83
Major GPA: 4.0
Units: 60+
IGETC: Nope
TAG: Nope
TAP: Wha?
Accepted: UCLA, Berkeley, San Diego, Santa Cruz, Davis, Santa Barbara
Rejected: None
Pending: Irvine
Personal Statements: 1 Excellent (peer reviewed), 1 Decent (last minute/no review)

The first two semesters of CC were nothing but W’s and one F (which was clearly from not showing up, rather than poor academic performance. As in, I just never formally withdrew. I later retook the class for a B. Took a break from school to travel Europe, came back and got straight A’s with a few scattered B/B+'s. So don’t worry about W’s, they really don’t seem to matter. Just focus on getting good grades for classes you stick with!
