2011 UCLA Transfers: The Central Thread for Discussion and Decisions

ten bucks says berkely got reagents and thats why he’s all super-power ursa user.

i’m in the same boat levonid. I’m history 3.4 TAP (alt. women’s studies)

@Ella: I haven’t submitted a FAFSA so haven’t even checked my financial status. I just hope that being able to create a UCLA email account is a good indicative,

La^ did u apply last year?

@ideal: I DID NOT RECEIVE REGENTS SCHOLARSHIPS NOT HAVE I APPLIED FOR IT… I didn’t even know it exists and my gpa is not 4.0. I’m a philosophy major with a 3.63 gpa.

My admission to UCLA may depend on how some early, OOS units transfer. With that in mind, I have some good news from Davis: They have a credit evaluation posted for all of my coursework, and they deemed all of my crap grades non-transferable. Therefore, from Davis’s perspective, I had a 3.95 GPA.

Davis’s policy is to transfer courses if they match with courses offered at any UC campus. UCLA’s policy is to transfer courses if they match with courses offered by UCLA.

So, if Davis followed its policy and checked UCLA’s catalog to see if any courses match and found they didn’t, and if UCLA follows its policy and only transfers courses that match with courses UCLA offers, I may be highly competitive, with a 3.95 GPA and TAP.

It’s not much, but since I don’t see any of my financial aid stuff showing up I’ve got little else to cling to.

EDIT: @Levonid

I’m 3.4 (or 3.95, see above) with TAP, and nothing is showing up for me either.

I have TAP with a 3.89 and can’t see anything  sigh, I’m pretty sure my prereqs didn’t complete the requirement and I didn’t get accepted anywhere :/

don’t you usually have to SIR before being allowed to make an email?

@Ella: no this is my very first time applying to universities…

Berk: it is, it wont let me log on… It says Im open in diff windows but I dont think I am. I would take that as a good sign! Whats ur gpa?

@nabilesmail I checked last night and didn’t see anything. This morning it showed up.

You’re Bio with missing pre-reqs? What’s your alt major?

@berekly, just lie to us and tell us you did so that we can all feel better about the fact no one else can access myucla… kthx :D

@ella89-yes i did, but i had to stay close to home for personal reasons this year…

@Ella: I’m a philosophy major with a 3.63 gpa. Do I have a good chance? ):

Nick - If you don’t get in I’m going to feel really bad. You deserve to! Congrats on the Davis and the 3.95, thats awesome news!

Phil - Of course, phil is not impacted at all. Do you have TAP?

I just want to state my condolences to anyone who has a borderline gpa. It is seriously the worst. At least if my gpa were really low then i wouldn’t be so anxious, and if it were high, I would have a better feeling. But no.

@Ella: no… I seriously regret not doing tap :frowning: do u?

nopeeeeeeeeeeee

@ SMC My alt major is Bio as well  I didn’t know what to pick as an alt major because I didn;t really do prereqs for any other major and I do want to major in the sciences, maybe I’ll appeal in as Marine Bio.

They said the requirements are

1 Yr of General Chemistry
1 Semester of Organic Chem

(I took chem at UCLA Extension which offers UCLA’S condensed Chem 14 series which is 4 quarters long and 2 labs and completely covers all of Gen chem and o chem. I’ll have 3 out of 4 lecture quarters done by end of Spring. I didn’t do the labs becasuse they were only offered during summer. :/)

1 year of calculus
I took calc 1 over winter (but didn’t report grade since it wasn’t required and I got a B)
and am taking Calc 2 now.

1 year of Bio
I took both and got A’s in both classes, also took both as Honors (though I wasn’t able to select them in the app, but it shows up in TAP)
I also took Genetics and Molecular Bio so I’ve completed their entire lower division Bio. Ugh I took those classes specifically for UCLA :/

I also have IGETC Complete, TAG at UCSD, good ECS, and 86 units completed in 2 years with no aps/prior credit (74) transferrable.

This sucks  I worked really hard and took a lot of units in order to try and transfer in2 years :/
