2011 UCLA Transfers: The Central Thread for Discussion and Decisions

Maybe early next week they will release? Say, Monday??

that class sucks, i probably failed my 2nd practicum on the 20th waiting up for nothing =[

@Boston you applied to Columbia GS? I applied early action and was admitted about a week ago. I am pretty excited but have always lived in southern CA and am kind of nervous about living in NYC. I want to wait to see if I get into UCLA and/or USC before I make my decision… But I am pretty sure I will end up a (temporary) new yorker : )

Good luck!!

@shell, yeah you guys are doing something right down there in Modesto.

Is anyone thinking tomorrow, maybe monday? i wouldn’t think they would release over the weekend, but who knows. sooner the better.

yeah, the 209 keeps it HE LLA classy hahaha… I can’t wait to get out of here! I’m planning on moving to davis in like 2 weeks (unless a miracle happens with LA).

O and I am hoping for tomorrow!! it would be nice to be able to start making official plans for next year

do you all know if they release decisions over the weekend?

i hear ya. I’m waiting on UCLA, Cal, and U of Arizona (to look over my portfolio) I’ve already been admitted to Arizona, but a good portfolio would put me in upper division.

I might apply to Davis B.A in Design. Their website said you could apply for Spring '12 sometime in July, is that true?

If all else fails, going to San Diego to Newschool Arch. and Design.

@noriebee

I got an email saying “unsure about releases within the week.” could be tomorrow or saturday, if not, monday - thursday.

UCLA has had a jump on Cal for a while, but I’m guessing that since so many Freshman were admitted, some have already SIR’ed or declined admission, so UCLA is stretching it out to calculate and adjust transfer decisions because of the Freshman flux.

hmm… I don’t really know anything about spring transfers sorry, but it sounds like you have some really good options though. It might be nice to live in SD, I applied to UCSD but I don’t really like the campus compared to some of the other UCs

Woo go Mt. SAC’ians ;]
I am one of you

If we get rejected from UCLA can we appeal with a different major? I applied as a psych major but i’m having doubts of whether i’m going to make it in because my gpa is slightly below the average of last year’s admitted students (3.68 or 3.71 if winter quarter grades get counted). However even if I was admitted I was planning on changing my major to cognitive science anyways because my interest lies more towards that field. The average gpa for cogsci was 3.5-3.6 I believe so I would have a better chance of getting admitted to that major. There was a thread going around from a past UCLA student talking about how he was rejected as a biz econ major but appealed as a math/econ major and got in. Do you guys think it’s possible or not worth the trouble?

@Liz - did i read that right? YOU GOT INTO COLUMBIA AS A TRANSFER? that makes me so happy haha! so awesome, and congrats!!

@jaynami Are you missing pre-reqs?

^ For psych or cogsci? For psych, no. I’ll be completing my final prereq this semester. For cogsci I’m missing some computer science courses but that’s about it.

@Redoplease - Columbia’s GS school is designed for transfer students that have been out of school for a year or more between college and high school (“non-traditional” students as Columbia states). There’s a lot of debate as to the merits of GS vs. the regular college at Columbia; but eh.

How bad is Bio2? lol Is it just MtSac/Cooper/Revell making it hard? Taking that next semester :(

taylor - thanks for explaining it<3
i guess ill just go ahead and be one of those people who thinks its super awesome!

Didn’t know there were so many mt. sac students! I took bio 2 last spring with Revell. It was challenging but I actually enjoyed it. It’s just the studying that’s gonna be a nightmare. Index cards (and LOTS of them) will be your best friend.

Yikes… :(

Not to freak anyone out…but my URSA changed; I can see my document and everything, and it says “completed.”

Yep, just letting you guys know.

Edit: I can see the tracking document, which was completed April 22, but no financial summary.
