2012 December SAT Writing

I forget the air conditioner problem but if the construction was “if the air conditioner would” it is automatically incorrect. You can not use “would” in the if clause. [If I Would Have… vs. If I Had… - Grammar & Punctuation | The Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation](http://data.grammarbook.com/blog/verbs/if-i-would-have-vs-if-i-had/)

The end part of the question was like “then the air conditioner should come on soon,” or something really odd like that. I think there were a few questions that were a bit tricky, or at least oddly worded.

what did you guys use for essay examples…? I used Teddy Roosevelt and talked about his fairness as a leader which in turn made him a good one. I used General William Sherman Tecumseh as my second and said that he was a bad leader for killing 3000 plus people during his march to sea. if i backed this up in about 1 and a half pages with a decent conclusion/opening would a 12 be possible or am i realistically looking at a 10 or 11?

Weren’t both the if and were choices incorrectly phrased? I dont recall but j think I put E

You’ll probably get at least a 10-12 depending on how much you wrote, and if it flowed well. From the looks of things, you probably wrote a pretty good essay, 11-12. I wrote 6-7 paragraphs and filled both pages. I used Mao Ze’Dong in my antithesis, Jobs, Ghandi, and Pi from “Life of Pi” hahaha. I think I may have spelled Ghandi incorrectly in the essay. I think I spelled ghandi’s name “Gandhi,” instead of “Ghandi.” I hope I spelled it right the first time haha.

@haphazard that’s hilarious, but yeah i think ill do pretty well my closing was like: Roosevelt and Sherman are foils of each other; Roosevelt treated his people fairly while Tecumseh committed mass murder. (or something along those lines) and then i used the indeed statement like : Leaders should indeed be judged by their treatment of others. (it flowed better than that) but im really hoping for a 12 because with a 12 750 is realistic for me. (studied my butt off and have not gotten higher than 590 on the writing thus far)

Honestly, I didn’t study at all for this test. I didn’t get a chance to, because I’ve been overwhelmed with schools, college apps, and EC’s.

I’m sure you broke 750, though.

i hope so i got the hard ones right (whoopi, ants, monkeys and mouths) now i just need to get the easier ones right and have a decent essay score

@steve yeah it was like exclusive, and it should have been exclusively or something of the sort, but i put onto the ramp as an error onto on the ramp seemed better to me at the time
they wanted to be first onto the ramp
or
they wanted to be the first on the ramp idk just a thought…

monkey put leaves and twigs in their mouth (should be mouth)
whoopi goldberg last question idk it was e and thats what i put
ants was no error
idr the other two no errors.

Bph, it was orangutans not monkeys. I think the answer was “mouths,” not “mouth.” Orangutans was plural.

@haphazard i meant that. lol but do you remember the question about drums? idr it. apparently its no error according to the first page.

Can someone write out the drums sentence?

I think the experimental one was one of the math sections because there was one more math section than the others.

What was E and what was D for the answer choices to whoopi?

I remember getting 4 no errors lol.

What’d you guys put for the air conditioner question? Something like …Were the air conditioner to be fixed, it would have blah blah… I thought that was the most confusing question on the entire test
