I spoke with the professor on the phone. March 11-12 = a few weeks from now, no? He’s actually flying me out there separately though since he’ll be out of town those days.

@bkiag1 - ah nice work man! But my question is did he call you today/email? Or was the announcement for visit from a while back during the phone interview process?

The call was a couple days ago, I never went through a phone interview process; he told me about the visiting days and said I’d get more info from Berkeley soon

Is anyone else still waiting on interview results from memp? It seems like lots of people have heard already. Are the notifications rolling?

Just got invite to JHU BME! WOW. Shocked

Congrats! I got an invite to interview at JHU as well! Do you know how many people they invite to interview/what our chances are not?

congrats guys thats a really good program

congrats guys!

just a heads up, be really prepared for JHU’s interview, they will reject about 2/3 of the interviewees after interview. (I might be wrong about this, never been there, but a friend had interview last year told me)

Why would they spend all that money to reject 2/3 of the people they invite? Doesn’t make sense to me…

it doesnt make sense to me either…that’s only what i heard…
it wont hurt to be prepared.

congrats guys! as far as rejecting 2/3 of interviewees, if you think about JHU being ranked as the best program in the country, they surely want to select best of the best. therefore, spending couple hundreds bucks to fly top candidates there and select a few best ones among those is still fairly reasonable to keep their vigorous reputation.

my friend who had interview for Harvard biosciences said Harvard does the same thing, which basically calling out the best candidates, flying them there for interview, but only taking 20-50% of those interviewees.

@bioenginerd,
thanks for the info. one last question, just from what you’ve heard/experienced after interview weekend, what percentage of applicants that interview actually get matched?

I got an interview to JHU BME too!! Super surprised.

@ordinarylove, sorry, I really have no idea.

@thumper99, @my42lemmings, @zinnebago I applied to JHU BE too. Do you know if yesterday was the only day they were sending out invites?

Honestly, I have no idea. They just said there was a lot of applicants and they’ve narrowed it to a select few. Have you others heard back from the coordinator about trip details or anything?

just got the official Berkeley acceptance email!

I got my Berkeley EECS grad acceptance letter on the 3rd, and another email today about how they provide full financial support to doctoral students and that more information will be forthcoming.

congrats, see you at visiting days
