I’m probably not submitting. I’m not ready yet, and also I’m not up to writing 48 pages between today and tomorrow. Good luck to y’all though!

^50 pages is the maximum, not the minimum

my art teacher told me I got honorable mention, but I never got and email or anything. I’m not sure if I accidently deleted it.

@Ezsebel haha yeah I know. I really hope I get something this time around. Are there keys/honorable mentions for novels or just a list of winners? My manuscript is only 27 pages because I wanted to end it on an interesting note, but nothing substantial really happens in the first few pages haha. this is just an incentive for me to work on my novel. Haha I thought I need to give 50 pages at first, good thing I read the instructions again.

Last year, they gave out nothing but gold keys on the regional level (no silvers or honorable mentions). From that list, they gave a couple silvers - three, maybe - and one gold on the national level. Pretty selective. But I’m guessing that not too many people submit novels since it takes drive to write one, even if it’s just an excerpt.

@Eszebel

Thanks for the info!
Good luck to you! :)

Does anyone know when the teacher sponsor and principal are notified if a student wins an award?

I feel horrible. My mom’s car broke down so it put us behind schedule and I couldn’t get to the post office before it closed. I did a self-service, but I know my novel submission won’t be postmarked for today. I just hope they don’t discard my submission. :(

HappyNerd, I think teachers are notified at some point after students (although each region works differently). I doubt if principals are, though.

kgoodwin18, just send them an email! Explain what happened and they’ll probably let it slide.

Does anyone know the exact day for national medal announcements? I think that it is the second of third week in March but am not positive. Thanks! :D

March 15th!

Omg that is so close… Thanks so much Eszebel!:)

Has anyone (specifically in the NE WRAL) gotten awards in the mail? When do they typically arrive?

nope. they should have arrived by now according to the site, but the site was behind on online notification too, so I don’t know. :/

Good to know I’m not the only one. I emailed Scholastic to get an update.

One week, guys!

I’m a principal in my school’s production of Sweeney Todd and we open next Thursday, so I don’t know if I’m going to have the guts to check Scholastic between panic attacks for Sweeney, haha…

Received an apologetic email from Scholastic yesterday saying that NE WRAL awards will be mailed to home and teachers in next two weeks.

My D got the same email yesterday. It said they had a lot more entries this year, and got behind, but letters will be here soon. Good luck to everyone!!

Good luck, Eszebel, on Scholastic and Sweeney!

Good luck to everyone on the 15th!:)
