2012 TAG Thread

CalGal36: Thanks :slight_smile: I also wanted to know about the financial aid stuff… will I receive financial aid when I transfer?

UCkittychen: I checked the TAG Matrix and it actually says that they do accept coursework from a UC as long as it’s in good standing :slight_smile: and it doesn’t exceed their given ammount of units.

It depends on your income. UC’s allow you to have a higher income than CC’s when it comes to receiving financial aid. If you do still qualify once you transfer, you’ll probably be getting less aid (I didn’t qualify when I transferred, so I’m not quite sure of the difference in aid).

Ooohh okay thankss. You transferrred to a cc from a UC too?

Nah, CSU to CC. But I know a bit about UC’s from having an older bro at Davis.

Ohh, that’s awesome! Are you in CAL right now?

Ha, I wish! I’m in the midst of applying right now.

If you have a TAG with UCSD and you apply to a non-impacted major for both your primary and optional major can you be rejected?? Has it happened before?? I always think in the back of my head what if they do reject me lol

Ohh so you’re a sophomore? x)

Yes, yes I am.

kitty might be dropping a class listed on the TAG app.

disqualification?

Good luck to you! :)

so whats the penalties for dropping a pre-req, getting a W, for your major for TAG?

ps. poly sci = major.

It appears that you are dropping the course because you are getting a grade in it that will drop your GPA below the TAG minimum this semester and terminate your Tag eligibility. If I can figure that out how hard do you think it is going to be for UC admissions officers? There is no coneivable justification for dropping a course that is a prerequisite for your major during the last semester before admission decisions are made. I expect your TAG will be revoked in January when they find out about it.

how about dropping a biological science course?? I just need that science for my Igetc, im doing terribly bad in it. probably C-B, I want to get a W and retake it in spring. My major is econ.

@lemaitre1

just leave me alone already. i don’t even care for your replies.

you have no idea what my situation is/are. you don’t even know who i am. your replies unwanted my UCkittychen. Why do you even continue to respond to me.

wheres that block button when you need it?

for your information as well, i have already spoken with a UC Davis TAG admissions officer and since my GPA is nice and my major isn’t impacted, i don’t have much to worry about, AND i can still take it next spring.

Just stay away from me. never ever, ever, ever, respond to me again.

somebody answer my question? thx haha

Even if it does not hurt your chances of transferring to a UC you really do not want to take a W if you can get at least a C and maybe a B in the class. It gets your Science requirement done and you do not have to worry about whether you can get and pass the course in the spring. Furthermore, if you are thinking of applying to graduate school you will pay a price for that W. Graduate schools do look at Ws and basically consider them to be the same as an F. To them, the only reason someone would drop a course is because they are failing it.

@lemaitre1

You’re being bit dramatic. A W is exactly what it is, a withdrawal, nothing more nothing less. That being said, I say don’t waste your time retaking the class later just do your best and finish it now.

UCkittychen, I have 3 Ws from the past and I just got 2 more Ws today. I dropped a Stats course and a Humanities course, I need the Stats course and am taking it in the Spring.

So, if you’re in hot water, I’m doubly worse off. But I don’t think we have much to worry about. It doesn’t say we can’t withdraw from courses this Fall in the TAG app.

class has been dropped already.

@hay, SC still?

I’m sure were still fine. after all there is still

east bay and sfsu, ha.
