♠ 2012 UCSB Transfer Decisions Thread ♠

Oxyklean: I’m in the same boat… I submitted my application on the first day that it opened to do because I wanted my application to be reviewed first but they are taking for ever to review my app… I dnt think they ho by alphabetical order cuz my last name starts with a B so I just hope they hurry up…

@juanchobm18: I don’t think it matters when you submitted the application. I pressed submit on the 29th, but I got my decision before yours. Just hold tight, mate!

Pending…

Same here… Pending…

Arg, still pending.
UCSB, why???

Haha, I’m starting to go crazy waiting.

Shortstuf: yeah I agree with you! I’ll just hold tight and wait hopefully they tell me on time for me to make a decision! But i’d be really sad if I got denied there, at least I got accepted to 1 UC already… UCM but at least its a UC!

@IAmSoCal Oh okay what other schools are you waiting for? LA is pretty much my 1st choice since I’m like minutes away from the school. I’m also interested in UCB just for its prestige but I’m not sure if I would go there over SB though.

For those that are accepted, should I SIR right away so I can at least reserve a spot for a dorm? Or can I just wait for other schools and list my options and still have time to reserve a spot?

You have until June 1 to reserve a spot. Don’t SIR unless you’re certain you’ll be attending SB

@lawlking
didn’t you apply to CAL and UCLA? if you did, i think you will have those choices too.

if i attend UCSB, i am going to live in Santa Barbara, the town. i love it there! and i don’t care for dorms. but i am older than most of you.

^^I applied, but I know with my stats I don’t have any chances getting into those 2 schools. There are way more qualified applicants before me who will get the spot.

Arrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggggh

@lawlking
you have a great chance to get into CAL because you are a very good writer, and that is extremely rare. i have seen many kids with high GPA’s on here who don’t seem to be able to write.

i suppose UCLA is all about stats. who knows? anyway, UCSB is fab, and we are so lucky to get admitted because it is very competitive to get into UCSB. harder than Davis now! also, you have a great chance for the other schools from where i am sitting because of the holistic review. if you did not rank high enough to be Considered for admission to UCLA and CAL, i think UCSB might actually reject you since they seem to be using those rankings for their admissions (at least that is what i have been reading). obviously i am not an expert because i am waiting, waiting, waiting. and we can probably expect plenty of seemingly random admissions.

Since schools like UCLA UCSD UCB hasn’t released decisions for almost everyone, will they know we got accepted to UCSB while they evaluate our application? And do they also know which UCs we applied to?

Chelz, well, I waiting on UCLA as well. I wanna see their decision first before I SIR to a school. I’m favoring UCSB more, though, because the school is too good looking and being near the beach is nice. Is UCLA good for your major or are you just trying to stay close to home?

well, according to what i have been reading. and i have been reading everything i can get my hands on while avoiding my homework and killing time before we hear from CAL and UCLA, i have read that they know exactly where we have applied, and if we apply to CAL and UCLA the other schools will base their decisions on those evaluations without looking at our applications. this seems to be true in my case, because UCSB delayed their decision about me for 24 hours and that happened to be the same 24 hours that UCLA had one question for me. when i submitted my answer to UCLA then UCSB admitted me within 6 hours. i do not think this is a coincidence. i think UCLA determined my admission to UCSB. if Davis rejects me, seems unlikely, but that will be a very bad sign.

also, i believe that UCLA and UCB already know whether or not most of us will be admitted. on a positive note, i think any delays right now for admission to UCSB probably means that UCSB is carefully considering the applications that are still pending. and perhaps looking past less than perfect reports from CAL and UCLA.

it is also my belief that if a student just applies to UCSC, they have a much better chance for admittance, than if they apply to CAL and UCLA at the same time, i mean, at least UCSC will read their application and not depend on other assessments.

this is all speculation on my part, i have a very active imagination. Good luck.

Just called and was told that decisions are posted they day after they are made. So they review your app, (hopefully) accept you, then that night the letter is printed up and your decision is entered, then the next day your packet is mailed and your decision is up on the portal. She said there is no average or set time the portal decisions are posted. Also, I know most of you already know this, but UCSB does not consider your major pre-req’s at all when admitting you unless you are bus/econ, bio, engineering, or creative studies. I asked when most transfers would know of a decision and she said mid April.

The wait is killing me :confused: I’m still pending at SB SD and CSULB. Some spring break, killer migraine for the last two days leaves me in bed with my laptop brightness on low refreshing admission sites

Just got my acceptance packet!

Accepted: 3.4 GPA Philosophy, only IGETC

@beachgirl

I’m on basically the same boat as you! I’m still decision pending for all those and it literally sucks. I only applied to 4 schools and only got accepted into UH Manoa which is 128904812904813 miles away. I just want a CA option! LOL

Did they say what time they usually change the “Decision Pending”? Or is it random / beg of day?

@IAmSoCal To be honest I haven’t been to UCSB yet but I heard it’s a great looking school as well. But yeah if possible, I’d rather stay near close to home and my major is anthro so I guess LA would be a good school for that. What’s your major and gpa? if you don’t mind me asking
