@northbeach: Interesting… I thought this only applied to freshmen applicants for some reason. If UCSB or other UC’s based our admission on UCLA/Cal ratings, that would mean that UCLA and Cal preemptively ‘scores’ our apps before reviewing them again for admission?

I don’t think it’s that hard to find out what race someone is. Just by looking at the name you already have a pretty good idea.

well, what do i really know anyway? but i had some timing issues with UCLA and UCSB. so it appeared to me that my admission to UCSB was based on UCLA and UCB ratings after reading tons of jargon online about the holistic process. but reading up on it yourselves is probably the best way to consider your own application processes. so many variables end up impacting our applications, like prerequisites and impacted majors.

@Philosoup
does this mean that you are greek? hahahaha

@philo: lol. So true.

LOL @ UCSB for not releasing my decision yet. What a dam joke lol! Whatever, at this point I’ll just be waiting for USC…

i asked this question in another thread and don’t think i saw a reply. i applied to private schools last year while i had under 60 units (thought that was a requirement). and this year i applied to UC schools because they require over 60 units. you seem to have applied to both UC and USC this year, does USC accept students with over 60 transferable units? could not pay for the private schools—so i will attend a UC. love the UC system. but USC has a great film program and i would have liked to attend. didn’t apply this year because of the 60 unit dealio.

For people admitted non-recently: How long did it take you to be able to log into Beachboard / Get an admit email / Receive an admissions letter?

I got an email about 2 days after, as well as the admissions letter. Haven’t tried to log into beachboard yet

^^ What is beachboard?

no clue lol =p I assumed it was just ucsb’s version of a web system based on how beachgirl9 phrased it

^^ lol. Ok than.

I will be visiting ucsb on a weekend in May and apparently the visitors center isn’t open on weekends. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do to get a good look at UCSB? And do you guys have any other suggestions on things to do in the area?

ooops sorry XD wrong thread

northbeach
you can apply to USC with over 60 units…who told you otherwise?

@anexia. I believe UCSB has a self-serve tour. You need to download an app or something on your phone, or do something with your phone; and you just listen to the pre-recorded tour guide as you walk through the campus.

@anexia - go walk around on state street :)

@northbeach
Sure they do! As a matter of fact, I believe you need 64 units to have junior standing when transferring over to USC…even though you may still apply as a sophmore! Although, I am not exactly certain if they have a ceiling as to how many units can transfer over if you are way over the 60 mark. You could always phone USC admissions if you really want to know; they are very easygoing and friendly :).
As expensive and wallet busting USC is, my heart is set on it. I took it upon myself to visit the campus, since it is relatively close to me, and I fell in love. The campus is breathtaking, and it has such a fun and relaxed atmosphere. My kind of school lol. And, for all intents and purposes, I am not as financially sound as you may think. From what I hear, and based on my research, if you can make a compelling enough argument to the USC financial aid office as to why you need aid, they will really bend over backwards to help you out. On top of that, there are sooo many scholarships. It is my firm believe that cost should never get in the way of getting a world class education Wish you the best of luck,and you should definitely apply there when you get the opportunity again!

Hi, im in a hurry right now but i just like to say i got admitted as a physics major with a 3.3 gpa and no tag. I applied as a mechanical engineering student. I love ucsb and am really happy they took me since i dont have tag anywhere (overloading classes in my fall semester lead to lower semester gpa and got my ucsd tag removed). However im kind of bumped out that they didnt take me as an engineer student since i was quite passionate about this career. Not sure what to do when other schools dont take me >< anywho. I jus want to chime in, since i know how nerve racking these past weeks have been and how everybody is being worried. Don’t give up hope! Good luck u guys. :3

I’m still waiting for UCSB! I got into UCSC & UCR, but those schools are kind of my last resort. You think my admission to those two schools are going to affect the decision UCSB makes? :/

For any of you Bio people waiting admissions… GL!.. Just out of curiosity did you guys only take the applied calculus or calc1/2?
