@iDizzle yea but my pre-reqs are far from very straight forward, as well as most of them not even being offered at my CC (or near anywhere in the valley).

@Ryan2137: I was not putting down anyone at all with my statement sorry if I “offended” you. Go ■■■■■ elsewhere

@ ThePavin: Oh I see. Yeah one of my prereqs for LA were not offered at my cc. But you have a pretty high GPA though right? Hopefully your gpa and PS will offset the missing prereqs. Even though my gpa isn’t spectacular I’m hoping that missing only 1 prereq and having a good PS will get me in the running. I guess that’s the upside of the holistic deal. lol

Literally all but one are not offered at my CC, the others are just “one additional lower div course” ones…

Hopefully just because I said political science major in my essay it doesn’t put off the reader haha… (phil at LA).

@ Pavin: LOL. Same here. I applied as a comm(my first choice) major at the 3 UC’s that offered it, the rest I applied as anthro(including LA) since LA’s comm gpa is like 3.94 or something ridiculous like that. My essay is about comm though =]. lol. I kind of melded the two subjects together though.

@iDizzle: Thankfully mine is completely about my path of going to law school… only really mention poli sci once by name?

Whatever time will tell I’m sure we’ll both do great where ever we go/get in etc!

@ThePavin: The average admit GPA last year was 3.6, and it had over 56% admit rate, I’m sure you will able to get in if you around or above the avg. gpa. =) Btw, not even one course was offered at my school, and most of the school near by were missing at least one course, so I’m sure a lot people will have prep. courses uncompleted.

@ThePavin

UCLA isn’t going to care that you mentioned PoliSci. You will likely be accepted, and you know it. Stop stressing!

P.S. I just realized who you are in the fbook group. So weird matching CC names to faces. Surreal.

@moon9 do you mind me asking where you got those stats?

@ Actraiin: Go to yahoo and search “UCLA 2011 Transfer profile”

Sorry to interrupt this thread but I couldn’t help but notice the Philosophy major talk. I applied to UCLA for this year too.
I have a 3.48 GPA
I have all pre-reqs done
I have decent ECs

Do you guys think I have a chance?

thanks a lot

I’d say you’re in.
I’m applying with no pre-reqs done, (completing 3 of them this semester though) and I feel like I have a good shot.

yeah I am. I was just wondering what pre-reqs you had done by the fall that you applied, GPA, and were either your english/math requirement IP during the spring.

Damn it guys, I got excited because there were like 7 extra pages in this thread versus the last time I checked. So we are expecting the next batch around the 20th now?

that’s what it seems like ^

Thanks for your answer bear. Is there a specific reason why you think I have a pretty good shot at UCLA? Many people I’ve asked said I’m probably gonna be rejected because my GPA is lower than the average admit. :(

my GPA is a 3.9, I’m taking all of the pre-reqs except for logic now. I’m a 1 year transfer so my english is IP right now and I got an A in calc last semester.

You have your pre reqs done. From the trends I’ve seen on CC even though that I have a 3.9, the fact that my english is IP and I’m completing 3/4 pre reqs in spring we’re pretty much equivalent candidates. Hopefully my PS puts me over you in their eyes…haha jk goodluck though.

Are you basing your comparison of 2012 to 2010 on what admissions have said, or just making guesses? Unless you have some factual data/message I don’t think it’s an accurate conclusion to make.

I have completed 2 courses which were the only ones offered.

I have every right to be worried. I’ve worked hard and want to get into the school of my dreams.

@Actraiin: I hope you have found what you looked for. =) But in-case you haven’t, or anyone else interested, here is the link to the UCLA transfer profile for the past ten years.

[Profile of Admitted Transfer Students - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof.htm)

The number of applicants that applied this year are relatively similar in numbers compared to '10.

'10= 18,735
'11= 19,737
'12= 18,886

UCLA traditionally admits around 5k applicants. They’re probably aiming for another 5k this year. I think '10 is definitely a better year to use to compare for us this year imo.
