I was 1 away last year from moving on :(, the test was much different this year so anything can happen

any idea when we can start discussing this ?

Hello!!

I think I asked this question back ago, but how many questions did you guessed?

I felt really stupid with myself during test because I did not know like five to eight questions…

^ if you only guessed on 5 to 8…and you were sure of the rest, you are amazing… if you were 100% sure (and right) on just 20 and guessed the 30 remaining ones you could probably easily qualify.

guessed on like 5, though prolly got more wrong than that

I highly doubt that you did not know only 5-8 questions. The highest score for the open last year was like a 40 or something?

Well, I straight out guessed on about 4, and was like 50/50 on like somewhere between 5-15 of them lol?

Highest score was fourty? i don’t think so. I got a 42 last year on the open

I’m not skeptical about Mansu’s guessing at all, since I also guessed on eight questions. Of course, I’m not saying it’s impossible I missed more than eight.

@darksigma did you make finals last year?

I guessed for like 20, eliminated and guessed for like 15 and knew 15 cold. I’m only half way through AP bio. Sadly, the part we haven’t done is eccology, animal strucutre, and plant strucuture LOLOL

si senor, i did

@darksigma

How many hours did you put into studying bio?

4-5 hrs a day?

darksigma: Did you study any other textbook other than Cambell and Reece. What textbooks would be useful to study for semis?

While I’m not in authority on this issue, I do feel that it would be safe to begin discussion in about 9 hours. That would still be 4:30 in Hawaii and Alaska, but I would not imagine they would begin a test after that time.

That will be 8:30 pm Eastern Time.

***, 4-5 hours a day for how many days, weeks, or months?

well, it was for about a year. and to tell u the truth, most of it wasn’t for usabo, though it ended up being very useful. in addition to campbell, i read alberts, but didn’t touch raven’s. i read at least 100’s of scientific papers. I really thing the most impt thing is to build your intuition about biology. When the answers start jumping off the page as plain obvious, you know ur doing it right

then what was this studying for? research?

quite frankly, i found it relaxing and fun :D

Haha yeah I agree with Jeffrey’s reaction, but

a) Did the research papers help on the USABO?
b) Reading research papers are fun?

good luck this year if you’re trying out again!
