2012 Wharton Transfer Thread

Since the average GPA of Wharton external transfer is ~3.9, I'd assume most applying would have at least 3.8+.

As I said this is from what I have heard. I know of a combined 6 external transfers from stern and umich over the last couple years.

My goal isn't to talk down other universities. In fact, I've heard that McCombs Honors is very highly regarded among employers.

man. if that's the case, then wharton is harder to transfer into than harvard. depressing eh?

For transfer admission process into the ivys, MIT, stanford, there are way too many qualified applicants for limited space.

Just do the best you can (grades, essays, ECs), and roll the dice.

Add me to the list. from what i've seen colleges represented:

rutgers, illinois, grinell, michigan, georgetown, uchicago...

Add me to the list too!

I hate this site! I thought I had fair stats but after reading yours... arghhh haha.

Well... Im currently majoring in economics and I like it a lot, but I love Wharton's curriculum, much more than that of CAS. However, I really wouldnt mind getting into CAS and majoring in economics. How harder is it to transfer to wharton than to CAS??

You can't internally transfer if you're an external transfer, but you're allowed to take Wharton classes if you get into CAS.

Hey guys! I'm also a fellow Wharton transfer applicant, and these are my stats:

Princeton University
GPA: 3.4
SAT: 800M, 800V
SAT II: 800, 800, 790
APs: 5 on 9 of them
HS Rank: ~10th or so of a bit more than 400
Awards: USA Mathematical Olympiad participant, USA Chem Olympiad Top 50, US Physics Olympiad Semifinalist, and some other stuff. Most of the awards I have are science-related

(I feel this is stupid, but maybe one of you guys can help answer my question?)

I didn't do that well this semester due to a personal health issue, so my GPA was only 3.4. I am pretty sure that is relatively low compared to the rest of the transfer applicant pool, so that is sorta really freaking me out! My symptoms have been treated over this winter break, and I am feeling much better now. I think that 2nd semester, I should be able to do much better in my classes. I hope that by the end of the year, I can try to pull my GPA as close to 3.7 as possible.

Um, so basically, my question is does anyone know if the admissions office will look at both the 1st and 2nd semester grades of our freshman year? While a 3.6 or 3.7 will not look that great compared to the others, I think it'll look much better than a 3.4. Or am I outta luck?

Ahhhhh, okay sorry this was so long, but thanks for taking the time to read it!

stay at princeton!!!!!!!

Why is this thread 2012 Wharton? Someone answer that for me? The people in this thread are 2010 or 2011.

yeah...is that at typo?

Yea that is a typo...I tried to change it but it didnt work...(it only changed the subtitle of the 1st post)...

Sorry for raising a dead thread, but I didn't want to start one since this maybe have been answered in passing.

Isn't Wharton a 4 year business program? How can you transfer?

i guess u can add me to the list

i go to mit, but not doing too well academically

i got into upenn last year but didnt go, dont know if that hurts me or helps me

GPA: N/A
HS: 4.39 W / 3.9 UW
SATs: 800 M, 770 WR, 760 CR
APs: 5s on the ones that count (Calc BC, Micro, Macro) as well as physics and us hist
ECs: a few but the usual (varsity sports, culture clubs, etc)

I think i wrote a decent essay but my grades are def the issue for me (thank god its pass/nr) as well as not taking business classes this yr due to stupid mit science cores...

i would have had a decent chance but due to college grades, pretty slim chance. hoping they take pity on me.

I also applied to Boston College...yeh i know MIT > BC, but i cant stand this place anymore

did you fail something or something like that? i mean, all P's is good. why didn't you apply to other places if you hate MIT so bad? what's wrong with it? no cute girls?

bumpbumpbump

it's time for results..

I wonder how many of the lucky 20-25 accepted external transfer applicants will have had been a member of this CC thread...

Is that 20-25 number Penn transfers or Wharton transfers?

to above
of course is wharton transfers
wharton is so renowned that it is seperated out of UPenn when being discussed

anyone heard anything yet?

they emailed me recently asking me to send my grades. i think that means i'm on the verge of being accepted
