Lehigh Transfer, Fall of 2012

Hey everyone!

I'm currently a freshman at a small private university in New Jersey and I'm hoping to transfer into Lehigh in the fall. I have created this thread so that prospective transfer students can share their plans to make their application stand out to Lehigh's admissions office. I will start by sharing my story/plan... I personally did quite poorly in high school. Aside from some solid ECs, my freshman applications were not something to be proud of. However, senior year I got my act together in school and earned a decent gpa for the year, 3.3 (I know, still low for Lehigh). After being denied from most schools I applied to, I enrolled in a small university in-state. I earned a 3.8 gpa and I am on the dean's list this first semester. I was in the top classes my university offered to freshman and only received one B (actually, B+) in a course unrelated to my major. In my application I plan on using the essay to explain what made me realize it was time to apply myself academically (very legitimate reason), as well as map out my future plans if I am to be admitted to Lehigh. With that all said, I worry that the transfer application date of March 1, 2012 will not give me enough time to prove my full potential to Lehigh's admissions office. As I said earlier, my purpose behind the creation of this thread was to discuss with other prospective transfer students how they will make their application shine with only such a short time till the application is due.

I wish everyone best of luck!

Hey cpoint93!
I’m glad to know I’m not the only transfer watching the Lehigh threads. I am currently a freshman at College of Charleston. For my application I am just going to focus on my essays and hope that my academics live up to what they are looking for. Best of luck!

That is exactly what I will be doing northsh. Good luck to you!

I am thinking of transferring to Lehigh as well. A 1st year college student, but sophomore (due to AP credits). I am not sure whether to apply to Lehigh or Binghamton SOM for accounting. What is the placement numbers for Lehigh accounting grads going into the big 4? The reason why I am only applying to one school is because I want my personal essay to be more focused on a specific school. Oh BTW, how is the financial aid at Lehigh?

nycdave21,

Im not that familiar with the financial aid at Lehigh, but I too would be studying accounting at Lehigh. Im a sufficient number of grads are recruited by the big 4, since Lehigh’s business school is so highly regarded.

I am applying for transfer admission as well! I am currently at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for civil and environmental engineering, and I intend to major in the same thing at Lehigh. I applied last year EDII and was wait-listed, so hopefully this year would be successful! fingers crossed. I just hope they can overlook my horrible GPA and focus more on my high school record. Lehigh truly is my dream school, and I wish the best of luck to all you guys:]

Hey everyone,

I also applied to Lehigh for the Fall of 2012. I was curious to see if everyone’s Portal was working correctly. My “application checklist” will not show up and it says “You will receive an application checklist within the next 24 hours” (it’s said this for 4 weeks now). I emailed someone and they said it was a system wide problem, is anyone else having this problem? I’m just getting nervous as the decisions for transfers will be released in a couple weeks I believe. Best of luck to everyone else applying!!

Antonio

Hi everyone, I am also applying for Fall 2012 as a transfer. I hope I get in. Actually hoping to do accounting there if admission and financial aid,etc makes it possible. It says decisions will be posted in May. Has anyone already received a reply? or if anyone does receive decision earlier, please let me know. So anxious!

To antonio- My portal was working fine, except I had to send one of the forms again in mail because they didn’t receive it the first time (or it probably got misplaced?) So they finally received the last thing that was missing just couple days ago. I don’t know if that’s bad or good!

I was actually under impression that decisions for fall transfer students would be release in mid april, according to what i’ve read from previous years and what I’ve read on the Lehigh website. Also, Halo92, what does it say under your applicant checklist on your portal?

Okay. It just lists all the required documents and the date they received each document.

I too am a prospective transfer school. I am very nervous about the application process and the decision. Good luck you guys!

Decision day should be soon here, best of luck to everyone on this thread. I believe last year decisions were released on the 15th.

Student Portal states decisions will be posted beginning in May on a rolling basis. Is anyone else getting this message?

I do not see it, but then again i never received an applicant checklist and there is probably something wrong with my portal. Under what section or tab does it say that?

Yes I’m seeing the same message, about decisions being posted in May on a rolling basis.
Good luck to everyone!

Hey everyone!
I too am a transfer applicant and applied to Lehigh University for Fall 2012. I was waitlisted last year and so I decided to apply again as a transfer because I think this is a wonderful university. Does anyone know of students who apply twice and if Lehigh takes into consideration your initial waitlisted status?

and to Antonioc222: where did you hear that decisions were released last year, April 15th? As others mentioned, the portal says that decisions will be released in May. If you know about last year’s transfer students, did they receive decisions earlier?

Best of luck to everyone!

where exactly in the portal does it say decisions will be released May 15? i can’t seem to find it.

on the upper right side, where it says application decision, it says “decisions will begin to be posted here in May on a rolling basis”

hmm interesting. mine just says “Transfer decisions will be posted here.”
