2013 LSU Competitive Scholarships

Has anyone else been selected to compete for LSU's full ride scholarship?

If so could you provide stats?

How do you find out if you’ve been selected to compete for a full ride scholarship? I applied like 2 months ago, and I’ve not been accepted yet, so I certainly haven’t been selected to compete for the scholarship.

Received an email asking me to apply. I just found out that I am also been admitted to Honor College. I got this email today.

By the way, The deadline to apply is Dec 8th. FYI I applied to LSU on Nov 24th.

I thought the priority deadline for scholarships was Nov. 15? @rlpak14 could you provide your stats?

3.6 and 33 ACT

Is there a deadline to apply for the Honors College? Also, if I applied before the Nov 15 scholarship deadline, but LSU has not received my ACT score yet (even though I sent it on Nov 9) will I still be considered for scholarships, specifically the Stamps Scholarship?

As to Honor College there is a priority date of Nov 15 but according to the College they will take in new applicants as long as there is room after that date.

If LSU has not received your ACT test score then you are probably ineligible for Stamps Scholarship since the deadline to apply is Dec 8th. But according to admissions you would still be eligible for other scholarships as long as funds are available.

I am confused how you could have submitted your application before Nov 15 but not have your ACT score submitted before today?

I submitted my application on Nov 18th and my ACT score got to them on Nov 24th. The admission decision was made on the 26th and received my email to submit to the competitive scholarships on Dec 2nd and my email notice of admission to Honor College came on Dec 4th.

You should be calling the admission office ASAP.
BTW what are your stats?

Hopefully I’ll be considered for the Stamps Scholarship; that is probably the only way I would consider attending LSU. Is there a separate application for the Stamps Scholarship?

As for my ACT scores, I’m also confused as to how they don’t have them. I contacted an admissions counselor last week, and she says that I have to contact ACT.

33 ACT
2150 SAT
National Merit Semifinalist (will likely be finalist)
3.87/4.21 GPA
I also have good ECs

Cba, unfortunately the Stamps and Chancellor Alumni Scholarship application deadline is this Sunday so unless you are accepted and provided submission pass code LSU provides in its scholarship email you will not be able to apply.

I am confused why you have not been selected for the full ride scholarships given your stats that are better than mine.

Hope everything works out for you.

Thanks for your help!

The admissions office finally “found” my ACT scores, which they’ve had for quite some time. Unfortunately she said I won’t be considered for those scholarships, even though it was an error on their part. Because of this, there is no possibility I’ll be attending LSU. It’s sad, but it would be much cheaper for me to leave the state than to stay here.

Cba, you are still eligible for Distinguished Freshman award as a National Merit Scholar. Full tuition plus $2000 plus $1550 research.

If not, you can apply to University of Alabama. Application deadline is Dec 15 for full scholarship opportunities.

Or you can go to University of Louisiana at Monroe on full ride scholarship.

Any idea on how big the applicant pool is?

About 200 which is probably why I was included as late application filer.

@rlpak14
Do you happen to know how the Distinguished Freshman Award can be combined with TOPS? Since I already have tuition covered by that, could I use the value of tuition with the DFA toward room and board expenses?

Also, I have applied to Alabama, and if I choose to go there, I’ll have everything covered with the NMF scholarship and Pell Grant.

Cba I understand that it is automatic. TOPs will cover your tuition and the additional money from Freshman scholarship will be deposited to your account to cover other college costs. If you go into engineering you will receive an additional $800/yr from the engineering department. So it looks like you would still be able to attend LSU.

Be aware that Alabama NMF scholarship, room is included only for 1st year. Thereafter you get $3500 to cover all expenses. If you are engineering major you receive an additional $2500 for total of $6000 on top of free tuition.

Anyone hear word back from them yet?? The website said it would inform recipients by the 23rd; just wondering if anyone got anything back…

Do you guys think I have a chance for a scholarship?

I applied on August 20th for Petroleum Engineering. I heard back in mid-November of my acceptance. I have a 1300 ( 700 Math) and (600 Reading). However, my unweighted gpa is a bit below a 3.0 because I take the full IB diploma and have straight B-s in it. On the other hand, LSU tells me that I have met the minimum gpa requirement but barely. I also got invited to Academic Showcase. I sent an email to LSU about considering me for the Tiger excellence award and they told me that anyone who applies before November 15 is considered.

sd1996

The Tiger Excellence Scholarship is a guaranteed award. Since LSU stated you qualify, you will be awarded $7500 per year as out of state freshman. Congrats.

rlpak14,

I emailed the office and they told me that my gpa is below a 3.0 and hence I don’t qualify… :frowning:

I guess I will be paying 40,000 dollars for 4 years each.
