^disneyland =), six flags, hollywood, shopping, deserts, beaches just to name a few

Its in LA. You wont have trouble finding fun things to do

One fun thing I highly recommend is going to see TV shows being filmed.
I’ve only done it once (i saw the Big Bang Theory at Warner Bros studios) but it was a ton of fun. We even got pizza (to keep us happy and laughing for the laugh track I suppose). And it’s completely free!

^sapphire:
why would it take you 12-14 years for neurosurgery residency? I’ve looked at some programs and it’s only like 6-8 years… but maybe you’re talking about a subspecialty, hence the use of the word “specialization”

^i meant in addition to med school=12-14 years total but im down for it being less =)

Yeah, i think at most, from med school through residency itll be like 10-11 years.
And plus in residency , especially during the last few years, you’re pretty much a working surgeon just paid a lot less

^awesome then thanks! my sources were pretty outdated… haha or maybe i’ll do study abroad to get an international feel earlier- what are your dream med schools?

I don’t really have any dream med schools to be honest. like I really wanted to go to UCLA for undergrad, and fortunately I got in. But as of now, I don’t have that same feeling toward a med school.
Of course going to stanford, harvard, yale, johns hopkins, UCSF etc for med school would be cool. But I don’t really have that much of a preference. Well actually stanford would be my favorite out of those. But I wouldn’t mind if I ended up going to UCI or UCSD for med school, those are good too.

How about yourself, what’s your dream med school?

^ oh i see, well oxford was my dream school, but being an international i couldnt apply for their med school, i guess harvard or Johns hopkins, but stanford has neurosurgery so thats pretty awesome… basically where i get in i’ll be lucky enough to get in to med school!

Yeah stanford would be pretty awesome. I would really like to do a residency (if possible) in another country though…switzerland for example =D

yeah i’d like to go to new zealand someday, maybe study abroad? maybe residency, but i most def want to do medical aid in India one day-thats kind of my goal, to go to a really impoverished area in india

get a room lol

^haha whatever! did you go to the events this weekend zzzboy? i didnt get to go, so if you went it would be cool if you shared your experience??

im a freshman >.>

oh sorry, so any words of advice for an incoming freshman? and what is your major?

class of 2013 for sure :]
polisci major:]

^yay are you applying for the freshman summer program? i think i might…

im going for some LS major. leaning toward neuro/mimg…not sure. my advice is:

1) plan your schedule so you dont have many gaps. if you have a long day then have one gap for lunch.
2) find the best professors on bruinwalk
3) make it so you have one or two days off. its easy with 3 classes.
4) join one club/sport/frat. i didnt and i get bored a lot and have too much free time.

oh awesome thanks! i can get my schedule at orientation yes? once again thank you

i think the schedule comes out before orientations start? you can either plan before or just plan when u get here…your counselor makes you write a schedule of a bunch of possible classes.

thanks, sorry one more question, do you know people doing study abroad or are you planning to do so and advise it or discourage it?
