2014 RD Applicants

I’m only a parent, but can confirm the presence of students from all over the place. My D is a freshman who was born and grew up in Minnesota. During move-in week there was a meeting of new frosh and parents in Finney Chapel. The Director of Admissions did a shout out by state, not every state but those with the largest contingents. From the response of the audience, the biggest contingent seemed to be New York followed very closely by California. I was surprised by the number of Californians. Wow.

We met frosh and their families at our hotel too. Several Massachusetts people; a few from Minnesota, and one new student from Hawaii! They were the friendliest but everyone was approachable. We met new students from several other countries.

My D turned down Cornell for Oberlin and does not regret it. After one semester, she feels Oberlin is the perfect size and culture for her.

Good luck to all.
