<p>Nope, they finished about 1-2 weeks ago, our schools don’t start until the beginning of September as well so our summer holidays are just started. Unfortunately I finished school a few years ago so I don’t get proper summer holidays anymore. Boooo <em>sulks</em></p>

<p>I think the friendly thing is definitely a Yale thing. On any other board you don’t see NEARLY as much action as on the Yale board…seriously check it out. Why is that? Because no one wants to give potential competitive advice on how to make their app/interview/essay/whatever STELLAR. How selfish is that?! No Yalies, even mere prospective ones, are the nicest.</p>
<p>I have a friend from the internationals forum who went and visited and he said that Yale was so friendly, that’s what made it his top choice. It wasn’t even in his top 5 before going there.</p>
<p>And I mean I graduated high school already, I’m 22 :)</p>

<p>I’ve been making music! I decided not to go to university straight away because I’ve always wanted to do music so I’ve been writing and recording, and I’ve done a bunch of tours around the UK working for bands. It’s awesome actually, but I’ve always wanted to go to university so I’m really excited about applying now.</p>
<p>I tell you what though, enjoy being 18 while you can. Because in just a couple of years people will expect you to be responsible and have a life plan etc etc. I’m going to get all old on you and give you this message - do not let anyone tell you what to do. Live your life by other peoples ideals and you will regret it. Booya.</p>

<p>Yeah, I look through some other college boards that I’m interested in and everyone’s usually really serious or just not very helpful and friendly. Yale is probably the most active Ivy board! loooove it. If this is indicative of what real Yalies are like…I’m gonna fall even more in love! hahah</p>

<p>WOW. I start school in about 3 weeks. In fact, we get schedules next week (excitment!). How crazy is that?? I don’t even remember June passing by and now JULY is almost over too??? </p>

<p>It hasn’t been that hot this summer…! I’ve been trying to go lay out by the pool with my friends but it’s either raining or just plain cloudy with random bursts of sunlight.

<p>portuguesninja. you are living my dream. i LOVE music. last year, i was considering either majoring in music during college or skipping college altogether to make music with a band. what kind of music do you make?</p>
<p>guys, i have a problemo. i have to try to convince my parents why aiming high for college (like yale) is better than a state college or something. they say the state school offers the same courses, great profs and cheaper. but i can’t think of a counter argument

<p>If you need financial aid then it doesn’t matter because Yale will fund what you need.</p>
<p>Gotta say though, if your family has a decent income and would qualify to pay the whole lot at a place like Yale I can understand where they’re coming from in trying to point you towards a state school. </p>
<p>Maybe you could compromise and also apply to some state schools that you also love, either way you’re going to need safety options. And also apply to your reaches. Then when you get offers with financial aid you can compare the packages and see what’s best for you all.</p>
<p>As for making music, I’m SO glad I didn’t go to college straight away and pursued music for a while. But then again if you’re doing it for the love of making music then you can always do that in your spare time at college, that’s what I intend to do, and then book tours for when I’m off during summer holidays. We make alternative-pop music :)</p>
