I think I am back on the SCEA track right now, major see saw on that decision, ahhhhhh :-)

^ Did you actually model for VS or were you being sarcastic?

2010Emily that’s so cool! Do you model for VS or VS Pink?

I am wayy too attached to Yale for my own good…!

Haha, same! I think we all are ;)

rockermcr/demietase
i was kinda sorta kidding, they don’t get old.
i don’t do lingerie at all commercial/editorial print mainly.

This college application has been the most stressful/exciting thing I have ever done in my life. I am trying not to get attached to any of my top 4 schools either, b/c I feel like it is such a long shot. Just think one year from now, we will all know and I bet we will all be completely happy with wherever we land! :)

Hooray for 2014 SCEA!

Gonna be a bumpy ride.

That’s still really cool! Haha I bet all the boys were thinking lingerie. I like Pink sweat pants the best :P

But yes, hooray! I think it’ll be awesome to chat with you all as we go through the process and anticipation, and most of all the results! I love Yale so much, especially because of the people, so this is exciting!!

2010emily, You’re totally right and I feel exactly the same way! Even though I would love to go to any of my top choices, ultimately I would be happy anywhere because (as cliche as it sounds lol) it’s all about what you’d make of your college experience.
You guys all sound really nice, and I’m glad to be in good company for the upcoming few months that are going to be very stressful!
:)

melody, you articulated that perfectly. I tend to be a pretty much over the top happy person wherever I am, but it sure would be an incredible feeling to be accepted to that perfect college fit. What will be will be :)

Guilty.

I’m really excited to apply. I love Yale. Hopefully, I’ll be seeing you all on campus in fall '10!

So, have any of you started writing your essays yet? I have a legit idea brewing (and I’ve had it for quite a while now), I’m just waiting to get a stroke of inspiration and finally put it all on paper. All of my best essays were written past 1 AM, because that’s when I typically get the inspiration I need to write something perfect (in my eyes, at least).

rockermcr–i’m pretty much exactly the same way. my best writing occurs somewhere around 1-3 AM in which i just stop caring about rules and inhibitions and write what i actually want to write. i’ve written two essays like that, though the topics themselves are jumbled and cryptic. reading them over again, i find that they’re not actually that terrible, lol, though I’d probably never use them entirely for an application.

like all of you, i’m excited to apply to yale too! best wishes to all of you!

rocker dude/chair2
I am doing the same thing with the essay thing, I have a page of random thoughts and a couple sentences saved in a word folder and I am waiting for that stroke of inspiration. Are you guys leaning toward light hearted humorous, or purpose driven dramatic or some other kind of random. I have ideas for one of each, but they are so different. Good luck to all my future college friends!!!

I’m the same way as you guys. I have a general idea of what I want to write about, but I’m still waiting for the ‘stroke of inspiration’ as well. What I’ve been doing sometimes, which I find really helpful, is to write in a journal. It’s like a good practice to get your voice across in writing (which is really important!). Good luck everyone, I still can’t believe it’s OUR turn to apply! How crazy is that?

Really crazy.

I have one essay already written but it isn’t quite right. Ironically, it’s about a failure, and how I dealt with it. I couldn’t accurately convey my feelings in writing, though, so. We’ll see what happens. I know I’ll write my common app essay about how I speak four languages, because there’s kind of an interesting story to follow it. Not entirely sure, though.

I wrote half of my IB Extended Essay (which is this huge 4000 word research essay required by the IB) in one night, from 1:30-3:30 AM, and my supervisor said that I wrote with the sophistication of a fourth year college lit. major. Hopefully I’ll find a way to write that way for my college essays…

four languages, are you kidding me? definitely something that will set you apart-great idea for your common app essay. Go ROCKER dude!
I am really passionate about my non-profit work, but I know that is a worn out topic, but it really is what I love best. I spent last summer in Argentina working in a geriatric home, which was the most amazing experience ever. idk- i have completed one essay, but to convey in words what your heart feels is difficult sometimes. ahhhhhhhhhh :)

what languages do you speak rockermcr?

English, French, Croatian, and Spanish. I also have a working knowledge of American Sign Language, but learning it was definitely one of the most difficult things I’ve ever attempted and I’m not fluent by any means.

I’ve always wished I could volunteer abroad. I can’t even imagine how amazing it would feel. One of my friends who graduated in '08 took a year off and spent two months in an orphanage for children with AIDS in South Africa, which must have been absolutely incredible.

Have you guys heard the Yale has changed the testing submission requirements. The sweetest CC mom pm’d me and told me that if you submit the ACT test results, all of them, the SAT/SAT subject tests aren’t required. So now I think I will submit my ACT scores only-this way my SCEA application will actually be complete and I won’t have to take the SAT subject tests in the fall. I am kind of goal oriented, so this sounds good to me. :)

And yes, working with those who are “disadvantaged” yet so happy really keeps all things in perspective. I LOVE IT!!!

I’ve never taken the ACT, but now I’m thinking I should. Hmm…

didn’t you have killer SAT scores anyway? You are probably fine.
