^That is comforting. Hopefully that’s the case. I’ve yet to hear back from cal poly yet. I’ll be more than happy to be accepted to either school. Thank you for your input @5nonnegotiables

@sdsu2014

Its so random, that you can’t worry. I applied to both schools, as safety schools, in hs. I didnt get into either. There were like 77000 applications for about 7000 spots I think. That is about 70000 people who didnt get in. That’s crazy!! So I am sure tons of those 70000 students are amazing people and it is just like a lottery, or musical chairs, where there aren’t enough seats. My counselor called cal poly to see why I did t get in and she said that you have to get into both the university and the major and …there has to be enough seats for you in your major. So I basically got Into the university and into my major, but because there were not enough chairs, I didnt get a seat and therefore got declined admission from cal poly as a whole.

So its just a numbers game And just sheer luck, that is what I think. So I went away freshman year, transferred back and went to a cc this year, because of course i couldnt transfer until jr year…and here we are. Everything happens for a reason, and things will work out and don’t stress. That’s what I think.

Major - Business Administration emph. Accounting
Decision - N/A
Location - San Diego(in the area)
GPA - 3.58

finished igetc, csu ge, and major prep

I’m super stressed right now. The GPA I put on my supplemental application is a 3.15. It actually is 3.2. Do you think there’s any chance I can call when the admissions opens up at 9 a.m. and tell them? One of the counselors at my school made an error and I went off of what he said just so I dont get in trouble last minute.

Major - Business management emphasis in Entrepreneurship

If anybody can please give me some sound advice about letting them know, I would be very grateful.

@collegesuperman

Yes definitely try. Though I would see if you could go sit down with your counselor and have them call and/or email on your behalf. Then I would also email admissions what happened and see if you could find out who your counselor would be there, and then email them too and I would also call. I have learned the hard way that you always have to trust, but verify and then verify again. Make sure to leave your redid name email phone number, etc.

It may or may not make a difference. See my long post above.

Good luck and don’t stress

How do I look guys?

Major - Business Administration (Information Systems)
Decision - Pending
Location - Out Of State- New Jersey
GPA - 3.45

As and Bs on Golden Four. All Gen Eds completed. Major pre not completed.

California colleges need out of state tuitions, so that is on your side.

I’m worried about getting in
Any thoughts?

Major - Business Administration - Information Systems
Decision - Pending
Location - California (Out of Service Area)
GPA - 3.25
Completed: IGETC, csu ge, all major prep, and AS-T degree.

From what i understood, If you put the AS-T on your application, my Transfer Advisor said and the Sdsu website said, you will get basically top priority. So, I think you have a very good shot, because I did the same thing & pretty much expect to get in.

@5nonnegotiables

Ya, I’ve talked to a couple of the counselors at SDSU who’ve told me having the degree for transfer gives you priority over all students accept those with transfer degrees AND 100% articulation agreement completion. It’s strange though, all the other schools I’ve asked (CalPoly, SJSU, Chico) told me it’s almost a non-factor for out of area students. The CalPoly counselor said it amounts to a .01 GPA bump in their index haha. Anyone else hear from schools about the AS-T/AA-ts?

Major - Business Administration - Management
Decision - Pending
Location - California (Out of Service Area)
GPA - 3.33 (3.45 by end of Spring)

Also, anyone know what the process for appealing as a transfer if were not admitted is?

Is that the same for out of state students as well? I too will have AS degree.

Pending.

Major: Business Administration (emphasis in Accounting)
GPA: 3.55
Location: Bay Area (Norcal) outside of local priority area
IGETC/CSU GE completed in their entirety, including the speech portion from CSU GE. All major preparation courses completed (all with an A, but they won’t know that). All Golden 4 courses completed (all with an A, but they won’t know that).

SDSU is my first choice. It’s really unfortunate that local area applicants are given priority, as they’ll likely make it very difficult for transfers from other parts of California to get in. I know I would get in for sure if local priority wasn’t given. I suspect the transfer cutoff point is somewhere really high in the 3.7-3.8 GPA range, since a lot of people want to transfer into accounting or business related majors in general.

I would’ve done an AS-T in business as well, but apparently they only accept AS-T for Business Administration (General) and Business Administration (Financial Services), not business with any other emphasis.

So overall, I’ll be hoping for the best. but I’m very pessimistic I really wanted to get into SDSU. I brought up my GPA from a 2.9 to a 3.55 in a little over a year. I’ve literally gotten straight As for the past year and half ever since I got my act together and switched majors from biomedical engineering to accounting. Yet none of this is going to be taken into account.

It really is all very frustrating. Basically, if I get denied, its because a) im not local and b) chemistry/organic chem/biology/physics courses from almost 3 years ago that continue to drag my GPA down to this very day, and which have absolutely nothing to do with my major or career choice at this point. Had it not been for that mistake, I would have a 4.0 now. It really sucks that none of this will be taken into account.

Perhaps I’ll try my luck out in an appeal (assuming I don’t get accepted).

I’ve already been accepted into CSULB and SJSU.

Still waiting to hear from CalPolySLO, CSUN, CSU Fullerton, and SFSU.

joogman23, best of luck to you. I really hope you get in. I like your optimism and I like the dog in your avatar. I have been stressing out and suffering from insomnia and anxiety attacks as the time nears for the admission decisions to come out.

^ I feel ya F2014Accounting it sucks how csu’s just look at the numbers without really putting consideration into anything else. im applying same major as you and i have a 3.47 out of area.

@f2014accounting

I am local and Sdsu is a backup school for me. Most people who I know who live here, want to go away. So they apply to sdsu as a safety, but end up going elsewhere, if they get in somewhere else. Those spots are then freed up to whoever else. Consider what I read , california community colleges take about 90 or 95% of their transfers from Ccc, who also need a lower gpa than out of state students to get in. Therefore based on what you wrote, I actually think you have a great shot at getting in.

It sound like you have done everything you could do. So its just the waiting is hard. :)

I mean california public colleges

Anyone heard yet? Someone earlier in the post said we’d be hearing today.

No. Expect in a week or two.

@joogman23 Said decisions will be made today. Most likely next week or the following we will hear transfer discussions. Good Luck!!!

@F2014Accounting hang in there man, i’m in the same boat as you. Just hope for the best, this is my number 1 with slo being my second, but if worse comes to worse which it will I will probably end up going to UCSB this fall because I TAGed there. I haven’t heard anything today so my guess is that they’re still reviewing applications. Keep your head up.
