2014 SDSU Transfer Decisions - POST HERE!

Disregard my last comment. I just called (should’ve before I even posted lol) and their offices will still be open through spring break. False alarm!

I just an email from SDSU admissions saying that ADT decisions won’t be made until early April. So I guess I can stop being OCD and checking the portal every hour.

I just got this:

From: “SDSU Office of Admissions” admissions@sdsu.edu
Date: March 20, 2014 at 1:14:29 PM PDT

Subject: Your Application for Admission

Admission decisions will not be made until early April for transfer students who applied to a major for which there is an SDSU-approved Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T/AS-T degree). For a list of majors, please visit the SDSU’s Associate Degree for Transfer website.

Transfer applicants to these majors who have completed or are in progress to complete an Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T/AS-T) degree were asked to verify, prior to admission decisions being made in April, that they are on track to earn or have earned this degree to receive priority consideration.

If you have questions about the verification process, contact the Transfer Center at your community college. You will be notified of an admission decision in early April.

I just got that email too, they must have gotten annoyed with all of us calling all of the time! lol

I got the email too, but I don’t (and won’t) have an AA-T. I just have two regular ones. I tried to call and after 70 minutes on hold… the call disconnected. I sent an email to the admissions office, but I’m not holding my breath for an answer.

This is difficult though because it effects people WITHOUT an AA/AS-T. My fiance’ won’t know until then because even though he doesn’t have an AS-T, the department offers it. This wait is killing us both.

hey i was wondering if that email includes TAG students as well?

Hi guys, Long time follower, first time poster.

So basically the frantic checking the portal every 43.2 seconds and all the gray hair I have spouted is worthless? haha

@jimtruong14 it didn’t specify. That’s something you may need to ask them.

So what if your major has a AS-T (or so they say) and the CC you frequent does not offer it? I take it you are hosed? I checked back in the posts but couldn’t find an answer.

Major - Computer Science
Decision - Pending
Location - San Diego (Local Admissions Area)
GPA - 3.11
Completed - IGETC, Golden Four, and all Major Preparation Courses.
Tag-
–60 unit minimum - Complete
–General Education - Complete
–Major Preparation - Complete
–Grade Point Average - Complete
–Prior SDSU Coursework - Complete (A 4.0 is being maintained for my SDSU coursework.)

Associate Degree for Transfer - NO. None of the community colleges in the Local Admissions Area offer an AS-T for Computer Science. The San Diego Community College district is where I’m transferring from, and it does not offer the degree. Other community colleges in the Local Admissions Area include: Cuyamaca, Grossmont, Imperial Valley, and Southwestern. Those do not offer the degree either. Some aren’t even approved for most ADT degrees.

I have completed one course at SDSU (CS108), and am taking a second this semester (CS237). I have, and will receive, As in both courses. I have reviewed course material for future CS classes (CS310, CS320, CS370, CS490, and CS537), and I am very much prepared for those. I have my ‘intent to enroll’ materials ready, and am confident in my ability to succeed in the WPA exam.

I find the campus to be great, especially with the new Student Union that was built. There’s a Chipotle, bowling alley, and a Starbucks inside it. I did not attend the open house on Saturday, because I’m on campus twice a week.

i have the exactly same stats as you, i am also currently taking cs237 right now and after this semester i will have completed everything i need for TAG.

I am also CS but my stats are terrible. I am from OC area and found that no one has a Comp Sci AS-T. I’m finishing up with Data Structures at my CC right now but other than that I am ready. Hopefully luck is on my side on this one. Especially being out of area.

@justadude91cs The Data Structures course equivalent at SDSU is CS310,which is an Upper Division course. So, in theory, you’re ahead of the game, in that respect.

@jimtruong14 You’re taking it with Riggins? Are you ready for the test next week? I’ve had a very easy time in CS237 so far.

yea i am taking it with riggins, yea its been pretty easy so far but have you heard anything from sdsu about admittance yet. Also did you finish your program yet

I finished program 2 on the 7th. I haven’t heard anything from admissions yet, aside from the email about the ADT degrees everyone else received. It sounds like we’ll have to wait until early April for our decisions.

oh thats really lame because i wasnt sure if that email applied to us since we are TAG

@hblock714, nope I don’t have as-t. I honestly never even heard of that until I started reading comments on here lol. Well it’s my second choice because I seriously didn’t think I had a chance at getting accepted! Haha I got waitlisted for Long Beach…which Idc about it was just a backup, but yeah so the campus is really nice? I’ve never been there. I had my heart set on Cal Poly Pomona, but I’m excited about sdsu because I want to live at the beach. I used to live in laguna…I’m guessing you’re from huntington?

I also received the email about decisions being made in early April. I am getting my AA-T but I never received any email nor saw anything on the SDSU portal stating that we had to send a verification.

Can someone tell me how they knew they had to send this paper? is it too late?

@anna316 it was on the supplemental app after you checked “yes” to having or getting an AA-T or AS-T. I took a screenshot of it so I would remember later- it was red text saying verification is required and then text below describing the deadlines. The actual date was at the bottom and very easy to miss, unfortunately.

@ajmarr thank you:). I guess that was one way of ruling out another batch of people. Haven’t been denied so I will stay positive.

@anna316 Go to your cc transfer center to see if your school automatically sent out a verification on your behalf. If not, obtain the verification form and walk it into SDSU admissions. If you live too far away, fax it to admissions and then call the same day (their hold system sucks, so just bear with it). It might not be too late, but do not wait another day to take care of it.
