SDSU has gotten way more selective these last couple years…with over 78,000 applications received for this upcoming fall… It’s really trying to become a more selective college nowadays

i would just like to know i need to make living arrangements

Major: Psychology
GPA: 3.38
Degree: AA-T from Mesa (Some credits from outside of local C.C. region), All GE and Prep completed or IP
Resident: San Diego
Decision: ACCEPTED!

Good luck and/or congrats, everyone!

@psysawsum That is crazy. I also just got an email from sdsu saying that basically since my AA-T was verified, and unfortunately there were not enough spots available in my major, i can forward my info to another csu college and will be accepted to one who has available spots.

Anyways, I also have already been accepted to Cal Poly SLO… so good we both have back up acceptances. I’m waiting for a few more decisions, but now im not so sure about the others, since i really thought i would be for sure in at sdsu, that that was one of my safety schools, especially with the AA-T. Weird!! how about you?

@5nonnegotiables I know. I am still waiting on UCLA and Cal but I have my heart set on UCSD. Plus, I’m already in the major and I’m done with the calculus lower division requirements. All I would need for lower division would be a computer programming class. I would also qualify for their honors program. And If I get accepted to Cal I wouldn’t be in the major. That would be a different application.

@psysawsum I am still waiting on ucla, cal and usc, and my top choice would be either ucla or usc (if the money worked out), then cal and then calpoly. I am done with all my lower division requirements too, with three AA degrees from sbcc in May; and, I don’t know how that happened. I have about 75 transferable credits, with aps and college classes I took in HS. I heard that ucla might put their decisions out on the 18th. UCSD is a really nice school, but I just live around the corner from there, so… too close. So are you waiting for ucla and cal or just committing to ucsd?

Major: Anthropology
Decision: Rejected
Location: Northern California
GPA: 3.93

Didn’t have a degree for transfer either.

Am I the only one??? STILL PENDING???

Denied ■■■!!!
Communications major, 4.0 AST degree in communications from Mesa. not even waitlisted.The only reason they gave is they had too many applicants for spots. AST is a complete waste of time since they accept the others first, then do AST transfers last. What can I say to appeal, I can’t do any better, just saying…

@5nonnegotiables
Did you email Sdsu to get all that information? Or how did you get informed? my brother was in AA-T and got denied as well while I got accepted, it’s super weird how all this turned out.

Major: criminal justice
Decision: denied
Location: central California
Gpa: 3.0
Also have an AA and will have my AA-T by the end of spring. I was missing one prereq for the major. This really got me down. My bf lives in SD and I don’t want him to have to move and find a new job in L.A. Since cal state L.A. accepted me. Does anybody have any advice for appealing? Or know if cal state L.A. is good school.

@5nonnegotiables I will wait. You never know. But I think I will end up committing to USCD.

@onlysdsu well, it made me feel better about myself that you, with your perfect GPA, got denied as well… It’s such bullshlt though. How the heck did you get denied!? Their admissions process makes no sense.

@sdsu93

FIRST, when I checked the website today, this is what i saw…

Application for: Fall 2014

Thank you for applying to San Diego State University. After carefully reviewing your application, we are unable to offer you admission for the fall 2014 semester. Admission to SDSU is highly competitive and this year we received nearly 78,000 applications for 7,783 undergraduate enrollment spaces. You are encouraged to apply for admission to San Diego State University for a future term. You must meet the admission requirements for transfer students at the time you apply. Admission information can be found at <a href=“Office of Admissions | SDSU”>www.sdsu.edu/admissions. SDSU has an appeals process for serious and extenuating circumstances to be reconsidered for admission. Generally, those appeals granted are very limited in number. For specific instructions on submitting an appeal, please visit <a href=“Admission Appeals Process | SDSU”>www.sdsu.edu/appeals. We wish you success as you pursue your academic and professional goals.

+++++++

THEN…later in the day I got this email…

Thank you for applying to San Diego State University. After reviewing your application, we are unable to offer you admission to the fall 2014 semester. The number of applicants in your major exceeded the allocated enrollment slots. Since your California community college has verified that you will earn or have earned the Associate Degree for Transfer (AS-T/AA-T), you have the option to send your application to another California State University (CSU) campus that is still accepting applications. To send your application to another CSU, go to <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU; and follow the steps provided at the site. We encourage you to have your application re-routed as soon as possible to ensure consideration for the fall semester.

@5nonnegotiables

Thanks so much that helped a ton! Hopefully everything works out. Wish you the best of luck again
