2014 SDSU Transfer Decisions - POST HERE!

■■■■!!!
Just got off phone with admissions asking why I was denied. They said my GPA was entered on the supplemental application as 0!!! My GPA is a 4.0!!! I know I entered it correctly!!! This is BS, I can appeal but I shouldn’t be denied because of THEIR computer error!!!

@onlysdsu They didn’t offer to re evaluate after correcting the error? you have to appeal? that makes no sense, you should not have to appeal a typo, their typo! Your correct GPA should have been on the original application, and there is no way to have a 0.0 and have any units for transfer. So sorry that you are dealing with this, with a 4.0 you deserve better.

@onlysdsu‌ do you have a print-out of your supplementary application summary page?

@onlysdsu, I’m sorry to hear about that. You should appeal. I can understand that they get a lot of applications, but it would be nice if the application itself called you out on things like that before you submit it. That said, my recommendation, and this is what I did, is that you save twice before going to each next step.

@alexisNS‌ This decision-making process is typical of all CSU’s with impacted campuses/majors. SDSU has six community colleges with large student populations to accommodate. SDSU has to give priority to all local cc applicants. Then, if there is room, they will rank the remaining applicants based on residence, GPA, and prerequisite completion and fill the spaces. If there is not enough room to accommodate all of the local ADT applicants, then the local applicants are ranked based on GPA.

The local-priority accommodation is not a SDSU policy, but a CSU policy and state law (part of the same law that enacted the ADT system). Their hands are tied when it comes to who they can let in, and who they cannot. And with an overwhelming amount of students applying from the six “local” schools (eight, if you count those who apply from Mira Costa and Palomar for majors not offered at CSUSM), that leaves very, very little space available for those outside of the area.

The majority of your denials have nothing to do with your capabilities as students. The majority of acceptances and denials are also out of the hands of SDSU. This new law has only increased the difficulty of entrance into the top-tier, popular, and impacted CSU campuses, while sending more potential students to the less-popular campuses. This “degree with a guarantee” is only beneficial to those who reside in the area of the college they wish to attend or are applying to a non-impacted program.

If you want to be mad at someone, get angry at our state legislature for implementing a law that was poorly planned and even more poorly executed.

I’ll step off my soapbox now. :)

still pending spoke to admissions and they just said they’re evaluating my stuff still to expect a decision by the end of the week. the anticipation is killing me

@jstang909 wow!!! Still pending… Good luck! CJ MAJOR, do you have AA-T? And a 5.0 gpa? Lol

My transfer counselor is going to help me appeal. She thinks based on my grades, courses done, and my situation it’s at least worth a try.

@alexisNS good luck. I hope it works out.

Have decisions stopped coming out?? Anybody still hearing anything?

Still pending for me!

@Uclax2 still pending here as well

@jstang909 Well, it is the end of the week, we should know something by this afternoon don’t you think?

@uclax2 yeah I called yesterday and they said we should know by the end of this week but then again they’ve been saying things like that since march. just keeping my fingers crossed for the hope that we don’t know yet because we didn’t get denied

Hey all you Palomar and Mira Costa hopefuls. I’m a 4.0 student from Palomar earning an AA-T for Psychology and got denied. So, good luck.

@kbuttertwo, that’s terrible; I’m sorry to hear that. Try to appeal!

STILL PENDING! SO MUCH FOR END OF THIS WEEK!
