Actually I was looking at past year’s spring transfer forum and someone with a 3.21 from UH got into computer science.

Another question I have is, my friend got into bio at UT last year with a 3.3. I currently also have a 3.3 from UH and 3 LORs. I applied to bio and public health. What do you think my chances are?

Dee, Ya Ya,… or anybody that are happy to help.
I am planning on transfer to UT for Communication, major in Radio-Film-Television. My plan is to have cumulative GPA of 3.7 at the end of the year. Do you think I would stand a good chance of getting in? Also, I have one W and four B’s in my transcript, do you think it would be a good idea if I retake a B class to boost my GPA?

Crew808: a 3.3 for anyone one is a low GPA, but I’m not sure what your credentials are like or even your essays. Your courses also matter too. Your friend’s GPA probably had a lot of help with essays and resume credentials. I can honestly say a 3.3 with no well roundedness will not be accepted. Your 3 letters of rec, however, is a good move.

Also, UGS is no longer automatically putting transfers into it when both college choices are shot down. UGS is priority for freshmen.

Foafoa: Radio tv film is the toughest major to be admitted into for Comm. I’m in PR, and that was tough also. I had a 3.84, and was admitted. Shoot for a 3.8 and I think you have a really great chance. Also, don’t hold me to this, but I think a portfolio helps your chances of being considered. Idk, it may only be fine arts and theater. But that is a tough major because a lot of people apply. For the whole comm school, only 200 of the total applicants were accepted they told us at orientation!

Dee,
I just want to say thankyou for answering questions for everyone as you know personally how nerve wrecking it is to be waiting and having your future in the hands of a commitee. ha ha but I am also bobcat who wants to be a future longhorn, and as you know know my overall GPA is a 3.43 because I took a few tough engineering and designing classes that I got B’s in and silly C in a math class. I applied to COLA undeclared and here are my classes that deal with that major that Ive took
(2nd choice is UGS- idk if that is a good idea or not)

College writing I - B
College Writing II - A
American Govt. - A
Texas Govt. - A
macro economics- A
US hist. up to1877 - A
that would give me a 3.83 GPA for Lib arts courses?
do they compute it like that as well for your transfer GPA?

If you dont mind, I’d to send you my two submitted essays topic and A&E (required ones), to see what you personally think, but I dont want them to send them publicly if there is another way

Good luck to everyone once again! The support and answers have all been really helpful. I hope we all get in! :)

The two week mark will be coming soon! Let’s hope that we start getting decisions as soon as possible. Oh God, I sound like a freak. Lol…I’m so anxious. It’s bad.

Bobcat20: you can send me them on here as a direct message! I’d love to read them. And your class grades are excellent. Your transfer GPA is computed with classes that ONLY transfer into the UT system. For example, the university

Seminar class you took at Texas state will not count along with your transferable GPA. You can go to the ut website and search through the calculator to see which courses transfer. Otherwise, your cumulative GPA shows them your complete progress as a college student so that is important too. I’m more than happy to help y’all out, because I wish when I was going through this process, there was someone to tell me I even had a chance and what to expect. Texas State did not help me one bit during this transition, I had to do all of the research on my own! I wanted it really bad, and I showed UT that.

Dee,
Thanks! I’m trying to private message you but its saying I need more than 15 post so Im trying to get that done asap! the texas state seminar class are you talking about that ! hour credit you take to learn about the university?

good because I got a B in that class and I honestly have no idea why that happened, i literally taught that class haha. is there any way you can direct message me so i can send them? it wont let me at this moment
