Thank you! I will try and calm down =] Do you think I can get into the college of NS with a high 3.5. Like maybe a 3.57 or 3.58? Like what is the ratio? 50/50? 40/60?

To the admissions committee, there really is no difference between a 3.57 and a 3.58. I think for CNS anything below a 3.6 requires stelar essays and A’s for the major you are applying for. B’s, maybe even C’s, in classes unrelated to your major is okay but A’s are better, of course. Not to mention, a decent r

Does anybody know whether ‘90 hours rule’ (If you have 90 or more semester hours of completed coursework when applying for transfer admission, you will receive low priority in admission and are encouraged to consider other options.) applies to 90 hours including both transferable AND non-transferable credits, or 90 transferable credits only?

I don’t know much about that, Wowyay, but I think 90 hours is way to much. It’s probably a much better idea to finish and apply for grad school instead. You have to consider how many resident hours you have to complete if you try to transfer which could take a year or two.

But that is just what I would do :-)

Haverfords, December 20th at the earliest. The deadline for grades to be in is the 21st. But grades will be viewable online at earliest, the 20th. All your grades need to be on your transcript before you can send them to UT. They need to be posted on ORION. Check your unofficial transcripts to see if they are there.

@mathguy1000 Well I called the admission’s office today, and she said it only includes transferable credits!! I have like 40 nontransferable credits earned from a foreign university and 60 transferable hours from community college in Texas. I was so worried, but now I know I’m good! Thanks anyway.

Thanks sekrim! Hoping everything is in on the 20th so I can take it to the Dallas office, this timeframe is so nerve wracking!

wowyay well in that case, yes go for it! It would have been the same any other place in Texas. It’s kind of a win-win situation for you then since it is at UT :)

CNS will not differentiate between .57 and .58. What matters most is that you met the requirements for the college. CNS puts a bit more emphasis on your major specific courses, such as classes that will count for your science degree. So it would be more beneficial to make all A’s in your degree courses.

Less than 3 weeks until orientation :)

Hi, I was wondering if when determining your GPA for admission, does the committee include all credit you have?? Or do they only include what’s most recent?? I have credits from a community college last summer, and credits from a university right now. Hope I made sense haha thanks!

CileyMyrus, they will compute a transfer GPA based on the courses you took that transfer to UT. If you sent in your community college transcripts, they will compute that into the transfer GPA if some of the courses transfer.

when’s the latest UT can give a decision? at this point it looks like i’ll be handing in my transcript on the 6th when UTD’s registrar reopens…

Okay, apperently i just got back my gpa. it is a 3.3 for my completed 15 hrs. I have another 15 hours for next semester to make my 30 hours so I can transfer for fall 2014. i can probably raise it to a 3.5. And I was reading all you guys responses to how they look at major related classes and all my major related classes are next semester. Soooooo, maybe I have a chance? This semester is really dissapointing =[ first semester of college sucks…

I am just sad because when I fill out my application, I will only have my fall grades (3.3 gpa) so it just looks sooooooo badddddddddd.

What kind of things does CNS look for on a resume? What makes it “stellar”? I have my own online business and I donate the proceeds to help children…would they consider that stellar because that is about all I got. And maybe some internships in HIGH SCHOOL but I really don’t have alot going regarding extra curriculars.

and another thing! since I wouldn’t have completed my 30 hours by the time I apply, they are probably going to have to wait for my spring grades. but since my 3.3 gpa is kinda =\ do u think they are just going to toss me aside? DDDX i wish I did better this semester.

I just have this feeling I might not get accepted into CNS with all the competition. What should be my backup?

They won’t even look at your application until you have 30 hours, so don’t worry. You still have time to bring it up.

Haverfords, I’ve heard that in some cases that admissions go on as late as the end of the first week of school. But typically they try to get them done sooner. I was lucky and got my transcripts from UTD today right before the registrar closed. Be careful though! They need to receive your transcript before 5pm on January 6th. Any later and you’ll have to appeal to get your application reviewed.

I finished this semester with a 3.8 and just submitted my final transcripts. I don’t expect a response earlier than January 2nd. Most likely those who finished their 30 hours at the end of the semester will have to wait until January 4th or 5th.

Sekrim, I was all set to get my transcript today and take it to the Dallas office but I only had 4/7 final grades up on Orion. And I’ve been done with exams since Friday! Looks like I’ll be at the registrar’s first thing January 6th…

I’m worried about finding out after UTD’s refund date and not having enough time to move (luckily I already have a place) and get registered. I have a 4.0 at the end of this semester, would it be safe to start planning ahead anyway? I just hate being presumptuous because there could’ve been something wrong in my application or something, and a 4.0 could mean nothing.

By the way, did you mange to make it to the Dallas office to turn in your transcript today too?
