CNS will look at your grades in Math and Science classes. This is the most important thing.
If you don’t get into CNS you can start in UGS and transfer later. CNS is the largest college and pretty easy to transfer IF YOU CAN HANDLE UT CLASSES. CNS introductory level classes are core classes and open for everyone.

Some students who were accepted to CNS or UGS with CNS prospective change their mind right after their first semester experience with calculus or chemistry and settle on something easier.

Would anyone be so kind in helping me determine a transfer GPA that UT will use?
I have the courses that transfer and my grades. I’ve tried looking at the link:

If anyone is still looking for housing this spring, I have a efficiency room available at Dobie Center, no roommates (yet), the security deposit is already paid ($450) and the application is free I believe, if not it’ll be $50, I’m willing to sell it off the anyone interested! I’ll let it go for $400!

Just want to say if anyone is core-complete, call and make sure the KNOWS you are because apparently my CC decides that information isn’t important enough to put on transcripts and to send to universities… idiots.

Haverford, I was able to get my transcripts, but the Dallas Admissions Office has closed by the time I got there. I’ve already moved to Austin, signed a lease, yada-yada. I’ll be hand delivering my transcripts to UT on January 2nd when they re-open. I’m taking a bit of a gamble moving and everything already, but I have a 3.8 GPA so I think it’s a pretty good bet. Hopefully nothing horrible happens.

LonghornNation24, it does not, but that’s also because I haven’t given them my transcripts yet. I have them! Just waiting for them to open. I’ve visited the office and no one is in the Austin Admissions Office. So they probably haven’t processed your transcripts yet. You’ll be fine because as long as they receive it before January 6th at 5pm, you’re good. You should get a decision soon, but I’ve heard that admissions in some extreme cases can go as late as into the first week of school.

Has anyone had success deferring their admission/acceptance? I am one of those potential spring transfers that didn’t have 30 credits until now. I don’t think I will be able (or want to try) pulling off moving and registering in the tiny time period I will have. I am hoping to defer to the fall so I don’t have to reapply. I am applying to cns. Physics and astronomy. I have 39 units, a 3.9, tons of community service and great essays and letters of rec. if I wait for fall I will have all my calc done and 2 of the three lower division physics. Finding open classes and housing should be a lot easier. I like the classes and profs I have lined up for next semester. I am living at home and have a scholarship that makes next semester free if I stay put. I really wanted to go this Spring but the timing is really difficult.

sekrim: Actually it showed up on MyStatus on the 23rd. An admission counselor told me before they closed that there will be people coming in time to time during break to process all the mails. If you want you can try to send your transcript now or just wait till thursday…

YaYa is sooooo right, aside from the Physics and Computer Science departments the school isn’t too hard to get into. The problem however is that the classes are REALLY FREAKING hard. There are so many students this semester that I know that are taking their natural science courses at community colleges over the summer because they cannot pass the curriculum. If you sign up for a CNS intro course, give it your all because about 25% of every class receives a failing grade for the semester.

I’m in the pool of applicants that had to finish 30 semester hours this previous semester before UT would look into my application. I sent in my transcript 12/16 and they said they received it 12/18 which made my application complete. Then the status of my application changed from complete/on time to in review on 12/20. I still haven’t heard anything back about the application and I’m quite bummed because I would’ve liked to attend orientation on Monday, 1/6. I also haven’t even looked into housing because I’m waiting on a decision.

Has anyone else who had to complete the 30 hours requirement heard anything?

Im in the same boat too. Ive appealed with new information and they received everything on 12/24. However I haven’t heard anything back either… I getting nervous. I was hoping to go to orientation too :(

if i don’t hear back by Monday night at the latest, I think i’m going to make plans to stay at Baylor. 6 days or less is not enough to get an apartment, move, register for classes (if any are still even available) and then settle down for classes on Monday…

Appealed with new information? Why did you guys have to do that, was your application originally not on time or complete?

My original application was on time, and then my transcript was received well before January 6th, so it was complete on time also. I just want to be sure I wasn’t suppose to be appealing something too; even though I don’t see what I would need to appeal.

I’m not all that nervous for my acceptance; I’m more nervous for the fact that I only have a week to sign a lease on an apartment and move to Austin.

I was initially denied that is why I appealed with a higher GPA. I’m sure I will get in too but if time does not persist, I will not put myself thru that hassle to go to UT. I don’t think it’s worth it. Plus I still need to find a subleaser for my other apartment if I do decide to attend UT.

They received my transcripts on the 2nd and it showed up on the 3rd. Now it has to be sent to evaluators to confirm I have 30 hours and calculate my GPA. I know I have a 3.8 and that I have 30 hours so that’s good. Then it goes to the admission committee. At least that’s the process they said it goes through when I called. From what I’ve heard from admissions counselors, they don’t look at appeals until they’ve finished all the regular admissions. Luckily, I’m not an appeal. I’m not gonna give up hope until the end of Wednesday. It’ll be a huge pain to register for classes.

Baylorgal123: If you don’t mind me asking, what is the gpa you’re appealing with? I just hope we find out soon cuz I’m worried about registration and FAFSA.
