This thread has been sleeping… maybe we can pick it up a bit!
Also, here is a question… for the tweet, does “I have always wanted to” count in the character count? Like, do we include that in the answer field or just keep typing from the middle of the sentence. I have asked four people in my house what they think, and we are split 2 and 2. LOL
Do you guys think a school newspaper advisor would be okay for the professional recommendation? She knows me very well and it would be incredibly meaningful. I was unsure if she would qualify as a “community” contact, though.
I’m not sure if anyone ever answered @baller55’s question about how long the Statement of Impact should be…anyone have any idea? Also, are we supposed to write how we impacted the activity or how the activity impacted us? Both?
First off for future reference I made it from SC. I have a 33 ACT, top 2%, 250+ volunteer hours, Varsity soccer captain. I think being from an underrepresented state like SC gives better chances.
Anyways on my portal my recommenders submitted their recommendations but it still says “requested :name” on both of them. Is anyone else encountering this issue?
Does anyone know what the distinction between “Name of Organization” and “Benefitting person or organization” is in the employment section of the semifinalist application?
@IBscholar@mediapr Does you know when the deadline is for semifinalists? I know its December 29, Tuesday, but is it like by Midnight of Tuesday, or by midnight on the Monday before?
@Mauriciog I had the same issue. My counselor said she had entered it already, but she asked me to check, and mine still said “Requested.” When I told my counselor, she went back in and I guess resubmitted it, and then it changed to “completed.” Just ask them to do it again!
P.S. My counselor asked me to check b/c she thought it was weird she didn’t receive any confirmation on her end. IDK if she got any after resubmitting, but maybe you can ask your recommenders?
On one of the short answer topics, it asks for “How have your values been shaped by your communities?.” How are you guys approaching this topic? Multiple communities and values?
Why is there only a 300 word limit?? Not enough room to write everything down!
@starrynight20 Thanks I asked if she could submit it but she went off the grid so I asked someone else who should take care of it soon. Also I wrote about 2 communities (immediate and extended family) and multiple values.
@smartypants57 Yeah, there was an update on the website that said we have until 11:59 on December 29 to turn everything in! Also, the same update said that all the recommenders’ forms don’t have to be submitted until January 8!!
Also, ditto @wbgsl1’s question! So confused about the public picture! Would a link to a Facebook profile pic work? I’m assuming this can only be a picture of yourself? Like no friends in the picture, right? Anyone know how big the picture has to be, how much they need to see your face?
