2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

@fightonRT USC requires this in addition to their writing supplement! Make sure to have them both completed

Does anyone apply with around 3.5 GPA? it seems everyone here has such a high GPA (3.7-4.0).
I am a junior transfer applicant.

@fightonRT I think they focus more on high GPA than essays. I never seen anyone with 3.8 GPA rejected only because of bad essay.

@zettasyntax I took 3-4 sports classes at college. Do you think that taking many sports classes will look bad because they might think I took them to raise my GPA?

Guys, I submitted a fee waiver that was not intended. I fear it has to deal with the NAI scholar. Was that simply a question of interest of wanting the scholarship? If not, than uh-oh

I submitted yesterday

@goldenlily They certainly take into account more than GPA or else every student with a 4.0 GPA would automatically be accepted no questions asked - and I’m definitely proof that it is indeed possible to get rejected with a 4.0. As other people have surely mentioned, things like major prep/class rigor and EC’s definitely matter too. If you’re applying for business and don’t have a calc class completed/in-progress, they may not exactly want to accept you for that major no matter your GPA. I’m unsure of the importance of EC’s and the essays, but I’m sure they count when USC thinks you’re like a borderline candidate - or if they’re just so spectacular that it makes you stand out

@victory1 I think I’ve read that USC (or maybe it was the UC’s, I’m not sure) typically allow 2 or 3 physical education related courses to count at a maximum, so I think you should be okay as long as you took a fair amount of classes that may be relevant to your desired major as well

Does anyone think that my poor grades ( all C’s) in highschool may significantly affect my chances? I am a freshman transfer applicant but in my half year of CC I got all A’s.

Another thing: if I get accepted does anyone think that they might rescind my acceptance offer for getting a D or a C in college Algebra?

@alexk97 So I need to complete all three prompts correct?? Sorry I’m just confused since the usc website says we just need to complete the supplemental essay prompts

@fightonRT Yeah, all three must be completed. The first one that is part of the general common app is 250-650 words, and USC requires this. Then there are 2 short answer questions capped at 250 words that are USC’s specific prompts, which is considered the writing supplement (also required)

Does anyone know when admissions are sent out?

I graduated high school with a 3.0 weighted gpa and am currently holding a 3.64 in college. That was my first semester in college and am looking to have similar successes this semester. I have a lot of extracurricular activities and involvement in clubs on the community college campus. Also I am involved in the Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Class to become a Marine Officer. How much will this help me in admission? I applied to the Price School of Public Policy.

Good luck everybody. Just finished sending in everything, now we just wait.

Same here. Good luck everyone!

Same!! Best of luck

@topchoiceschool End of April if you’re lucky, but mostly in May until June 1st. I think I got my decision during the 2nd or 3rd week of May.

@victory1 I applied with a 3.46, you’re fine.

@mochibbycake what was your first and second choice major in your application? did you get SGR?

Is international Relations (business) a difficult major to get into?

Was anyone here invited to be part of the Trojan Transfer Plan?

Hi guys! I’m a sophomore transfer who needs help filling my app out! For the current/most recent classes, I’m on a semester basis but I took summer classes in 2015 and was wondering do I put it on there or? I’m putting in my fall 2015/winter +spring 2016 grades.
