2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

I added a very redundant sentence that shouldn’t have been in one of the responses to the prompts. How much will it affect me?

Is there any way to edit your answers to the two prompts?

Hi! I’m trying to transfer into Marshall as a sophomore!
High school gpa-3.0
Long story, had a 4.2 weighted gpa most of high school and due to multiple personal and family losses I failed most of my classes senior year of hs.
I started cc summer of 2015 and then a serious health issue had me dropping classes/getting a total of 3 D’s even though I was doing really well most of the semester. But I did complete the math requirement with an A and half the writing req with an A. I’m retaking the classes I failed, many ge’s and writing 2 this spring. Does anyone know if USC considers extenuating circumstances like that while looking at an applicant? Would I get an SGR anyways since I have have a requirement in progress? My gpa would be 3.65 after spring grades btw and my SAT is 2140. I’m illustrating a book for a retired UN ambassador, working at a fast food place, and writing a tv show script!

@faroutgirl Yes, many in the TTP are people that come from 4 year universities as are people that are not part of TTP. Transferring from school to school seems to emphasize doing it from a CC, but many students transfer from four years, either cause they aren’t as happy as they thought at their chosen school, changed majors that school doesn’t have, homesick, financial apsects, etc., - a variety of factors. Makes no difference if coming in CC or 4 year if classes are appropriate and grades are good. Can I ask why you want to transfer from USF? We are touring that in a week with a hs student. I don’t know anything about it, so just collecting data at this point. I have 2 at USC so been through this process a lot!

USF is a good school, it really just depends on what the student is looking for. If they want the true college experience then this is probably not the school for them. Also, if they do not plan on joining a sorority or fraternity it is very hard to find friends. The education is good, I have yet to have a bad teacher and it’s nice because they have really small class sizes. Personally, I want to transfer because USF has not given me the college experience that I really want, such as going to football games and really having a community within the school since USF is really divided in terms of ethnicities and social groups. @CADREAMIN

@IBProspect123 I will be a Human Biology Major. Good luck!

Thank you @faroutgirl, I had heard that being close to the city, after freshman year people pretty much fan out in various directions. Good luck - hope you get into USC!

I currently attend a quarter system school, does that means I send in my transcript right after winter quarter (~2nd week of March)?

@notsohappygirl yes they will likely ask you to submit it

is there anyone transferring from midwest?

from Michigan State University
Junior
3.16 GPA
applied for International Relations(Global Business)

this is my first choice school. hoping to get admitted
anyone else applying for international relations(global business) major?

@1270012405 what would be your expected GPA after this spring? are you going to live on campus if you get admitted?

@notsohappygirl You only send in the winter quarter grades if requested to do so on your “YouSC” account.

I took two classes in my CCs one month winter semester. Do have to send those grades in?

@victory1 about 3.3? and no im planning to live off campus!

What will USC say about a “credit/no credit” policy? The policy is if you pass a class then you get credit, if not, then no credit. I have a friend of mine that is using this. He’s a political science major. He’s using this in his geology class and lab cause he’s going to end up with a C

PS. He really believes he can acheive A’s in other classes

Does anyone know when rejections/acceptances are sent out? They said we’ll know by June 1st but do they send them earlier?

@chjd22 based on last year’s thread, some people receiving decisions and SGR’s on April 29. And they continue sending them out all through July

I am a freshman attending a community college. I earned a 4.0 last semester and I work 15-20 hours per week. I’m applying as a business administration major. I’m still very nervous I will get rejected as I only have 15 units completed this far. I got a 2140 on my SAT but I don’t know how heavily USC weighs this. Will I get a spring grade request at least?
